    Cabin In The Woods 60%

The first hour was a little boring.

    That's a good question. Exceeded high.expectations.

Off to see Under African Skies now. Paul Simon showing up for a q&a after.

A strong yes to this! My Mother in law arrived earlier today and I was remarking how lucky she is that we aren't decamping on her to go see The Avengers, her reply, "Is Steed still about then?"

    True story.

But would she be less confused if you said 'off to see The Avengers Assemble'?

Just seems like an odd thing to do, they could have just officially titled it 'Marvel's Avengers' without having to redo all the titles and promo stuff, if they were worried about it from a legal aspect. Not that it matters much, it's not going to put anyone off.

    Avengers Assemble - 10/10

Avengers Assemble isn't only as good a film as you ever wanted it to be. It's so much better. Blasts into my top 10 films of all time with consummate ease. Stunning effects and action sequences. Its also incredibly funny. Hulk steals the show.
    Awesome film. 92% from me.

Sundance London? Shouldn't they call it some other dance or are they too lazy? Snowdance. Winddance. Mistdance would be cool and fitting. Springdance?
Sorry if I'm pointing out the obvious, but it's called Sundance because of Robert Redford.

There's no Butch Cassidy and the Mistdance Kid.
I never thought about that. Huh... Learned something new.

I also thought Raindance was a sister festival of Sundance so I thought they would rename them for every new city. So that's two new things I learned today.

Haven't seen a film in a while but thought it has been long enough that it needs repeating.

    Tim Burton is shit.

    Pissy pants.

Tim has his own style. I don't enjoy his films either. His remake of Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory was dull at best, and not a spot on the original.

I admire him , not a massive fan, but i respect that his got his own unique style, and hte trailer to his new one, looks visually gorgeous. He has recently got lost in how own style, could do with stepping out of that and trying his hand at using his style in a written form, normal film with well drawn characters, i think his capable.

His film out put as been mixed though, from the good (ed wood, corpse bride) to the very bad (planet of the apes)

He's never dull in terms of direction and always tries something different. Some of his films have been great. Others less so, but they're always talked about

Planet of the Apes, Edward Scissorhands, Batman, Big Fish and Alice in Wonderland are all virtually identical.

I think I'd seen mowgli on an episode before. Curious.

Just seen 2 films at Sundance.

Under African Skies about Paul Simon's album Graceland and Liberal Arts which is a rom-com.

Will review these on Monday. Both were excellent and I can see why they were chosen to show in London.

The QnA with Paul Simon was fascinating.

Tomorrow its 3 documentaries and the first 'hot' film Saftey Not Guaranteed.

    Avengers 92%

Superb. Lost some points probably because I'm too much of an adult to really appreciate it's Super-Hero charm but it was really really good regardless.

Lots of funnies, haven't heard an audience as a whole laugh and clap like that in a movie before which caught me off guard. Only one moment got a audience wide applause but it was definitely there.
