Played Game Of Thrones today. Amazing game, but I'm starting to see it's flaws. One player tends to get brutally destroyed and it becomes no fun for them. The turns also tend to get longer and longer and longer as the game goes on. I think it has maybe one too many turns.

Played Cash and Guns as well for the first time. Incredibly great. BUT it's out of print everywhere! It's jumped straight to the top of my wishlist as well. Along with 1960: Making of the president. Which is also out of print

Has anyone played Formula D before?

Dangerously close to buying it. Although 35 on Amazon is a bit rich

Ticket To Ride was brilliant; a couple of rounds and we all figured the mechanics. Once you start claiming more routes and ruining other runs it all gets more focused.

Nice and easy to learn and not a slog to play. Recommended.

That's a good price for Formula D actually, as it has very good production values. The only problem i have with the game is that if you like it, you'll want to get some extra tracks and that's when it gets expensive.

Never heard of it until you mentioned it, and now I really want it! Looks perfect for my group.

Where did you play it? How did the owner get his/her hands on it?!

The owner had had it a few years. Played it at 'FANG' a once a month meetup above the Poppy and Pint pub in Nottingham, which is a great way to spend a Saturday.

It really is an absolutely wonderful game.

Finally joined a small board game group in North London and, also finally, played my first game of Eclipse (despite having owned the board game and the iPad app for some time)
It was nice to be the rules explainee, rather than the rules explainer for once. After a very quick overview it was straight into it, and although there was a lot to take onboard and I was a bit behind the pace of the more experienced players, it really was a cracking game.
Looking forward to playing this again and I am already thinking about what I'd do differently next game - now that I have some understanding about which tech is useful at various stages of the game. I think that it is the mark of a good game when you're actually thinking about strategies etc when your not even sat in front of it.

After several weeks of Pandemic, my group has it fairly well mastered (apart from a loss in about 5 minutes last night, well done Mr "Asia will be fine." ) and we're looking at the expansions.

In the meantime, I'm going to have the joy of introducing them to Mansions of Madness this weekend. As the only one who's even played it, I've got the joy of being Keeper.

I can see Mansions of Madness being a great game for a themed evening.

Then again, I really enjoyed playing Last Night on Earth and the rest hated it. I wasn't running the game I hasten to add.

Oh I do hate dropping 40-50 quid on a game and it falling flat.

Which one was it? I've been looking into them myself...

    What was the atmosphere like?

Met the Shut Up & Sit Down guys at the EG Expo yesterday, lovely guys. Played endless games of The Resistance with them and a load of other people too. Was the highlight for me definitely. Videogames can suck it.

    Gah, shitty, unsupported iPhone app.

I met the SUSD boys today too. Won 2 games of Mascarade, then played Avalon later.

I ended up telling Quinns what to do when he was horribly confused and we won. Huzzah. Later lost as a bad guy with Paul on my team. Was so tight though.

Thoroughly great time though, just sad I couldn't go for longer.

Also tried the Oculus for 5 minutes and it was amazing. Makes the PS4 and XB1 look stale in comparison.

Ah, would have loved to have played Mascarade. It's so rare to get a chance to play my copy with the high player count needed.

Mascarade is brilliant! The only problem I see is that newer players often forget when someone is very close to winning. For instance, forgetting when someone is King with 10 coins already in their possession and neglecting to do anything about it.

With experience that's certainly less of an issue though.

Also, I managed to source a copy of Cash N Guns for a not-insane price from a Belgian website...

I will post a link when/if it arrives on my doorstep, complete and in English...

I am so jealous of you lot.

I've turned off all the avatars and crap, so don't expect me to be impressed by yours.

Picked up Cranium today from a charity shop for 3. Looks like it's only been played with once. Needs new modelling clay by the looks of things (gone a bit hard, might liven up again though) but otherwise in really good condition.

Never played it before but heard reasonably good things in a Pictionary meets Taboo meets other stuff kind of way, so will give it a try.

Another shout out for Brighton gamers, holding a game session on 6th October called The Boardroom at the Caroline of Brunswick. PM me for more info.

I will be bringing Mascarade, El Grande, Hanabi, Carcassonne, and maybe some others. People are welcome to bring their own games too.

Playing a lot of jungle speed at the moment in our house, in part because my 4 year old daughter can join in. Still trying to come up with the perfect game for me, my wife and my son, given the brief that she loves 7 wonders and he loves anything.

What the deuce!? Get on amazon, folks. Uk version of Cards Against Humanity is available to buy. Twenty quid for the base game and eight for each of the three expansions. An utter steal given it's been impossible to import the damn thing all this time.

Mind you, I managed to get hold of a copy. It's been a massive hit with non-gamers. I guess all our pals are evil minded bastards...

Umm, I think what she likes about 7 wonders is the non conflict and the theme. I was thinking more worker placement than sprawling space opera, the box art alone would definitely cause her to refuse to play.
