Odd. All the buses I get on the rear doors are a couple of rows back from the stairs, so I've never had that problem.

Cubby didn't know how to turn off sigs!

I like James May, but the bus segment could have been fitted into the news. Utterly shit. Even James seemed strained at how forced everything was.

Did make for an upbeat ending, can I recommend a book called Back Room Boys, which is basically several stories of all the brilliant stuff Brits invented post war and then fuck'd up when it came to the commercial aspect.
The guy who basically invented the computer couldn't get a loan to make a commercial one, because he wasn't allowed to tell anyone what he'd done because of the official secrets act.
Also Turing got driven to suicide because the authorities couldn't cope with the idea he might be a bit gay.

Go back in time and get the government to give Tommy Flowers some seed capital, and give Turing some hard-eyed special branch types to stare anyone down when they complain he likes chaps, and the whole of postwar history could be different.

I own that type of caravan (mines a cyclone xl, iirc). It doesn't go anywhere but is my home and office while I build my house - it's saved my life (especially during winter) but I really REALLY cannot wait to see the back of it! I enjoyed the episode in other words... ;-)

I suggest going back in time with a copy of wikipedia and some computers might be more useful. :D

They had one of the new buses at Goodwood when i went down for the Festival Of Speed a couple of weeks back.

It was a hot day, and I went upstairs to see what it was like with the non-opening windows.

Anybody who sits on the top deck for more than 10 mins on a hot day will be sunstroked into mongdom. It's like a furnace!

Also, loved the 'British' bit at the end of TG. Say what you like about them, they know how to do jingoism!

Is it just me or did anyone else notice halo reach music during the range rover sport review?

I missed the bus part, but was it one of the new Routemasters? I get one of those to work sometimes, they run on the 38 route through Islington to the West End. No problems with getting hot to be honest, I think there's air conditioning. Not bad buses in all, good legroom and the ride is alright.

They didn't have room for air conditioning what with all the CCTV cameras.

Caught up with the whole series now. All good. It's true about Hammond - he's the fly in the ointment. Even the tired old jokes (from the tired old jokes) still work, whereas Hammond's fall reliably flat.

Even enjoyed the potentially cringeworthy GB bit. The show is a better sales pitch for this country than anything Cameron & co could come up with. No wonder the French won't watch it.

Zero interest in Top Gear anymore - anyone checked out Idris Elba's King of Speed? Couple of episodes in and it's pretty interesting (and doesn't shy away from bootlegging, street racing, underage driving, etc). S'on iPlayer.

Ah, thanks for the heads up. I remember hearing about that Idris Elba show but had it in my mind as starting in the new year.

You mean you actually want to watch a show that's actually about cars, rather than a show that's just based on cars? Why on earth have you been watching Top Gear all this time?

Just watch Chris Harris vids on /drive if you want some proper car tests and reviews. He's fond of the odd power slide aswell. 1000 times more likeable than those other 3 pillocks aswell.

@BillMurray Yes! I sat there all day yesterday on YouTube watching his vids on the drive channel. They're purely for the car enthusiast. He explains things like you're not a complete twat, he's a friggin brilliant driver, and the filming is pure and simple. None of this artsy fartsy bollocks. You see, and most importantly, HEAR the cars exactly as you wished you could while watching Top Gear. I can't help but feel he would be the perfect companion to the Forza series. I can just imagine an intro vid of him talking and driving the car you're about to race. He'd be real good at getting you pumped for it :)

Heads up for 9pm BBC2 tonight. Not Top Gear - but Clarkson's documentary on WW2 arctic convoys.

Thanks for the heads up, should be good. If you get a chance, take a listen of this BBC witness podcast of same subject, horrific.

Have you seen the Chris video where he is invited to some sort of Pirelli tyre thing in Italy, he gets to ride fucking shotgun in the glorious group B rally legends such as Stratos, Delta S4 and 037, there is even some footage of the ultra rare group S Lancia ECV 800bhp rally car! One lucky man indeed

In which they go somewhere in fucking rocket powered sewing machines and "accidentally" upset the locals before "accidentally" setting fire to something and "actually" running off like naughty school boys and the little cunt who still thinks wearing those weird three quarter length leather jackets and fucking boot cut jeans (fucking boot cut jeans!!) makes him the yoofs bestie and he annoys the big desiccated scrotum cunt while "fit" "birds" are pushed to the front of the crowd so the cunts can slobber combinedly on them and the scrotum cunt can drop nicotine cake pube hair on them and at one point during the entire series they review a car that some of us can actually afford?

FFS they're not going to be doing a serious review of an affordable car are they? That's a waste of an episode.

3 grown men play at being joyriding oiks. "Hilarity" ensues.

I know TG has never been high-brow entertainment, but that was pretty poor indeed.

Fuck me, you guys actually found any of that funny? That was quite possibly the most catastrophic bullshit I've ever seen.
