I enjoyed last nights episode but i agree with you guys.
Get rid of the star in a reasonbly priced car. Unless they are actually car fanatics and a bit interesting of course like Jay Kay or Rowan Atkinson. But that bint they had on last night was just embarrassing to watch.

    Who the hell was she?
And the audience could barely even muster up a "Yeahh" when Jezza asked "who wants to see the lap". Even the studio audience were yawning when she was rambling on.
It was quite possibly the most boring, dull, unknown guest they've ever had.
To be fair, she obviously IS a bit of a car fanatic... But I never really like the interview bit so I wouldn't mind seeing it gone. It always feels a the boring interlude in the middle of the show.

    @beastmaster
    Oh aye.
No doubt about it. I would give her the best 3 seconds of her life for sure. But man was she out of place on a show like this.

I suppose it's a way to keep or get more audience figures as opposed to anything else. If they get some Hollywood superstar on, people are going to watch.

Edit: But she was an odd choice. Big in Germany.

The Resident Evil films. I'm one of the reasons they keep making them.

    @spindizzy
Was she a car fanatic? I wasn't listening to be honest.
Im afraid as soon as i seen the guest was someone who i'd never heard of i started surfing youtube for cat videos.

    Still would though.

@wogsy81 she's owned 3 Audi R8s, a GTR and now has (I think?) a 458. She also said that when she's writing an album, she thinks about the cars it will let her buy.

She's pretty big here in Switzerland too (I've even seen her live - at a festival, she wasn't the reason I went!). Put me in the 'would' category too... ;-)

    Harsh!

    a) She's put a couple of cracking albums out, so she's hardly 'unknown'.
    b) And looking at her car history, she's clearly a petrol head.

Two Audi R8's, a Nissan GTR, and a Ferrari 458 to name but a few.

And she wasn't flogging anything - just turned up to do the lap. And she put in a top 5 time.

Perfect guest if you ask me, compared to some of the people they have on there who want to spend all their time plugging their new 'product'.

Sold close to 5 million albums and actually cares about cars. What more do you people want?

Yeah, hardly unknown, I've several of her singles and might download a few of her albums now. I'd admit I got distracted on my tablet during the segment, but to say she 'was out of place' because you have never heard of her is daft, especially when you weren't even paying attention.

Thought she was pretty good for someone I didn't know much about. .2 seconds behind Tom Cruise. Talked about not liking the feel of a GTR. Seemed to know what she was on about.

Oh and yes - she doesn't appear to have a new album out soon. She actually wanted to be on the show.

I've seen her in the Ferrari going into Tescos.

Did see that Bugatti Veyron she was on about round that area as well but couldn't have been her after she said it's on her list.

Her album has been out for a while, new single perhaps but she wasn't plugging.

Anyway, better episode this week. Nicely put together even with the script sometimes.

    Seems to tour constantly.

It was a cheapo Ok episode, hopefully to help fund the exotic stuff they might have later in the series

It was odd how they edited the race finalé to make it seem close, and it kept cutting from Hammond and May in daylight to Clarkson at nighttime.

First album (This Is The Life) is fantastic, second one (A Curious Thing) has some good tracks but is my least favourite. Third one (Life In A Beautiful Light) not quite as good as the first, but not far off.

You seem to be under the impression it was an actual race, they just happened to have a few dozen film crews waiting at various roadsides in France waiting to catch a few seconds of footage as the Mustang came screaming past.

If I recall correctly they do actually do the races, but for some/most of the outside shots of the cars and other stuff they film on the way back or something. I noticed in this episode during the mustang interior shots you could see in the distance the camera crew a lot more than usual.

In other news, remember that helicopter crash we read about ages ago? There's now a video.

    Happy now!

Cubby didn't know how to turn off sigs!

Of course this is how they do it, otherwise, they'd need about 50 film crews sat around waiting for a 4 second shot of the car racing by. How else did people think they filmed it?

Almost 300bhp in an Astra. You just know Clarkson will say it's great.

A Kia review. I understand it'll be the new reasonably priced car (so much for hoping they'll scrap that bit of the show) but come on, leave that stuff to 5th Gear. What a waste of time.

Also Clarkson's open mouthed OMG I'm so amazed/surprised routine really does grate on me now...

The Kia review was great. It was hardly a 5th Gear consumer review.

Still, a KIA. Aren't there more exciting cars out to do this with?

Heh. Wonder how much security they had to hire for Hammond's safety.
