    ... t-minus one hour!

I thoroughly enjoyed the Bentley rally point to point race (although to be fair, I always warm to James May's part of the show) and the Pagani Huh-whu-woo was not bad either.

Damian Lewis is a great actor, but was a little unfulfilling on the sofa ... the snow race was a tad dull too. The P45 was brilliant! Only letdown by the unnecessary Dragons Den part; why did they play it so seriously?

I hope the travel-from-the-other-side-of-Europe-to-home-again part is on tonight.

I do love the look of that aston not in that colour though, the LFA I love from a technology point of view but I wouldn't take it over a Nissan GTR and the viper, well it's a viper it will be badly made and will fall to pieces.

Oh yeah I enjoyed SIARPC as well, it's nice having someone on who's there because they actually want to be there and not because of the PR bullshit machine that comes to top gear because the stars got something new coming out.

Fleetwood Mac announced a 2013 tour two days ago. Fleetwood has been shilling it on a number of shows.

Well. It was Ok, but it wasn't anything we hadn't seen a dozen times before. Top Gear has inevitably gone the way of all car shows - we end up watching them for the cars.

    Boring here too.

Oh and Mick Fleetwood was fucking dull.

'Ha ha, I spent most of my time drugged out of my mind'
'I call them the forgotten years, because, you know, I used to do shit loads of drugs'
'I know what you mean but back then we just didn't know better because of all the drugs we did'
'I used to race but was often drugged out of my mind'
'Oh no, oh, ho ho ho, do we really have to see my lap, oh ho ho ho, oh, well I wasn't drugged this time...did I tell you I used to do drugs'

    Fucking dull sad old man.

It was ok but nothing special... ok i found it a little boring too.

At some point they will put a ramp over a shark pit and jump it for real.

I really think it's time for a re-think of the whole thing - format, presenters and all.

Problem is they make an absolute fortune from the thing so it's a definite case of 'even if it is a bit broke, don't fix it'.

I found myself really wanting to know a bit about how 1500 USD could make a crappy car blitz the supercars they had.

Bit of a disappointing episode TBH.

Because the Top Gear lads can never be seen to be actually good at anything. They have to be fuckwits even when they obviously should perform better. Oh, yeah apparently 'it's funny'.

It's one of the biggest factors for my increasing boredom with the show.

the problem was that the main feature was a bit of a misfire. it was a retread of the last one they did out there, from driving at 30 to racing between the lights and they didnt even rag it around a track.

@shamblemonkee Repetitive? So is Top Gear then :) In fact that's part of the problem for most of us long-time fans. I fancy a change of format or a bit of a houseclean at least.

If they don't change, why should we?

It's actually got even worse. At least before even if I didn't like it, I couldn't fault their commitment to it, but now it feels like they phone it in.

The problem with the USA feature is that the cars weren't the stars, it was the planes (which were awesome).

I wanted to see them absolutely ragging that Viper and LFA but they never really got close. It just all lacked excitement for lack of a better term.

Again, they have done this before (with a helicopter, iirc) and it didnt make for hugely exciting TV then.

Thinking about it, last nights show does kind of confirm that they are totally out of ideas.

They've also done a fair few variations on the lazer tag thing now. It just doesn't have the impact it did before. Although the planes were very cool, but yeah, meh.

True but that says more about the dire state of british sunday tv than the quality of top gear to me.

They do have more hits than misses for me, the Pagani segment was great because it was just some traditional gushing over a brilliant piece of engineering. It's the overly played out gimmicks that don't work now.

Yup, when they are doing the auto journalism/correspondance thing, ie their jobs, it's great. It's when they wheel out the tired old circus routine that the wheels fall off their scripted clown car of a segment.

Did anyone else find the image of three rich white men parking three insanely expensive sports cars in a clearly piss poor, run down, shithole border town a little bit too uncomfortable? I’d like to think that was a conscious thing on the part of the writers/directors to poke fun at the program/subject matter itself… but that’s a bit too clever for Top Gear.

I actually finally gave up on it last series (I think it was Sweeney episode that did it and I only actually saw the trailer for it). The ratio of bits I enjoyed to bits I did not just got too much for me.

I am completely bored of the comedy persona's the 3 of them put on and most of the features just seemed to be fake nonsense designed around allowing them to make shit jokes. The actual car features are still brilliantly shot for the most part but I just cannot sit through the other bollocks.
