I went to a couple of UK RallyCross events some years back and the top cars were seriously quick. Unrestricted WRC jobs and the like - 650hp+.

Theyre taking the piss about saying its cheaper than golf im afraid. Little things like petrol, insurance, tax, racing license, repairs, cost of using the course, helmet etc, etc

    Still, looks like great fun.
Aye, in reality it's extremely expensive, assuming you want to do it for more than one week anyway.

You could pick up a reasonable set of golf clubs for 100 and play a round for 30 including a buggy for your lard arse. :D

Or of course just borrow some clubs for another tenner at most places. Still, not hard to see what's more fun. \o/

This docu on BBC 4 about 80s rallying is all kinds of brilliant. Turn it on.

It was looking likely but now there's confirmation :-(

    Jeremy Clarkson ‏@jcrclarksonesq
Pay attention. There will be no Top Gear until next year. Boring reasons.
    Bollocks!

Hopefully it'll give them time to make a decent series. Last one was good if short, but I didn't want them to have to stretch out the material any further (as they have done IMO in previous series)

Budgeting issues? The break won't do any harm though.

Still at least it gives the BBC more money for quality programs like The Voice and Strictly.

I'm sure I read it was something to do with scheduling and coming up against the X factor is why it's been delayed.

I'm pretty sure along with Doctor Who, Top Gear has to be the BBC's most profitable franchise over the last few years.

I like the way that their twitter conversations are like more extreme versions of the ones on the show!

But isn't that rubbish usually on a Saturday? Probably just a lie, who knows why it's really not on this year?
I think since the winter series was on so late this year they weren't going to bother with a summer series and just leave it until winter, however the X-Factor results shows are always on Sundays, so that's why it'll be pushed back until early 2013.*

*I have no source for any of this.

Yep, 'coming soon' apparently, which usually means in about 3 weeks time.

The Top Gear christmas special is apparently coming in Feb. No idea why, but that's what the man himself says:

I assume the delay is due to one or (probably) all of them being BBC paedophiles.

That was just The Stig asking for someone to polish his helmet getting misconstrued

Oh. That makes it sound like one of Hammond's only-if-you're-terminally-bored made-for-US engineering programmes. Hope I'm wrong.

    ^Nope, you're right.
I only looked the show up properly today and I'm thoroughly disappointed to see it's just Hammond. I hate the little cunt to be honest. It'll no doubt be like one of his patronising Sunday night science shows where he talks to the viewers like they're fucking retards.

I'm gutted. A proper Top Gear James Bond special with the whole team doing their bit, genuine adulation of some classic cars and them cocking about, would've been brilliant. Hammond on his own? They can fuck right off, I won't be watching it.

For the record, this is being show this coming Monday, 9pm I think.

Oddly enough, on the EPG it's flagged up as a series. Hope they don't run the rest of the series on a Monday - wouldn't be right.
