Genuinely didn't see it coming, I just expected the one he hit to blow up. I still laugh watching it again.
Same here, I found it a lot less predictable than other times. Helps that I watched it in good company, it can make a difference.

    Ryan Reynolds was awesome too.

Yeah, I did quite like the caravan explosion, even if it was almost exactly the same joke as the old Fools and Horses chandelier one. Well done though. I did also enjoy the angry director bits - that was a genuinely good bit of acting, assuming he wasn't actually as pissed off at the other two's antics as some people in this thread are ;)

Still, all the Hammond bits were shit. The James bit was shit. The news was shit. I'm still glad I watched the episode for the bits of it that I did enjoy, but it's a disappointment after the previous episodes this stint.

It stopped being about the cars again (mostly), more them pissing around on a film set.
That's what makes the show so watchable for someone like me, God knows I wouldn't tune in each week if it was still Tiff Needell & co getting all clucky over camshafts. That shit is dull, the comedy (no matter how badly signposted and repetitive it may be to some) is what gives Top Gear that special something. I'll keep right on watching and enjoying so long as they keep that element of cocking about.

For the record, I thought Sunday's ep was brilliant, the only thing that could've improved it would've been Hammond's absence from the car chase item. He acts like too much of a dick sometimes and it's grating.

Frozen lake track is crazy (but beautiful).

Have the audience crowd got closer or just more self-conscious?

A strange game. The only winning move is not to play.

Good ep that. A bit of proper old-school gear followed by a funny bit. SIARPC wasn't bad once they'd got the contractual bit out of the way at least.

Good episode tonight. Lots of car goodies. SIARPC was entertaining. Silly section wasn't too silly, rather entertaining and actually for a good cause.

Well so far this season of top gear is leaps and bounds above the last few seasons, but still the magic from the first 5-7 years is gone. I really don't feel the need to watch it on sundays like I used to, that could of course also be because I know it will now be endlessly repeated on Dave...

Good antics, staged or not. The debate over to leave him or shoot him tickled my giggle bone.

Oh yes, the lake photography was cracking

I must admit, after last series I really wasn't sure I was going to bother with this one but so far I'm glad I've stuck with this one (last week's episode excepted). Three very decent shows out of four is a good hit rate.

Good ep, much better than the turgid shit that was last week, proving that they can do factual and funny still.

Plus, I've no idea who the 'star' was, but I do want to know the brunette behind his shoulder.

    Same here.

Having said that, the ice lake bit was nonsense. Put two different fast cars (with different tyres!) on some Ice and then say a Range Rover is best! Well I never, Jeremy. Why not drop all three in the sea, and then say a submarine is the best car? Although, redemption was at hand in the form of a proper Stig - turning up in the hovercraft and then stuffing the Ferrari into a pile of snow. Hurrah!

That Ferrari's front bumper looked a bit twisted after Stig took it into the snow. Can't have been cheap.

It wouldn't have harmed it's looks. It belongs in the ugly car thread, imo.

Enjoyed this week's episode. Good series so far, though last week's wasn't great. Lots of laughs tonight though.
