I never ever watch music videos these days, so imagine my surprise when I accidentally just saw the video for It's Not War (Just the End of Love). It's brilliant.

I'd almost forgotten how incredibly pretty Anna Friel is.

Nice, will save that one for later.

Always good to see the Manics thread bumped. :)

Gigs upcoming, new album in august and another in the spring.

Rewind the film is the name of the 1st album and will be acoustic in nature, the spring album will be more traditional manics.

    Anyone going to the gigs?

I'm going to both dublin and belfast :)

They're incredibly hit and miss these days (to be honest, ever since the Holy Bible). Last good album they did was Journal For Plague Lovers, and it's rather telling that was all based on Richey's leftover notes.

Can't say I like the sound of the new album, but it's always nice to see them and it's good that they're on Jools Holland tonight.

Also, rumoured to be doing some gigs later in the year in which they will play The Holy Bible IN FULL. Wowzer.

Hope that's true, I'm definitely up for that. Haven't seen them for a couple of years now.

@ecureuil Saw them 2 nights in a row last year (Dublin then Belfast) and even met them all afterwards for a quick chat and they signed my Postcards from a young Man album (because I couldn't find my Journal for plague lovers album).

Very nice they were too, especially Nicky. Sean was a bit shy and James kept calling me Sir. He is also 2 foot 4 inches in height.

Is it wrong that 20 years since he disappeared, every time I see this thread on the first page a little part of me hopes that Richey has been found?

Wow, jealous. Saw them in Leeds a few months ago but I may go again if they are touring. So good.

They said any good band should do one album and then split, right?

Wish they'd done two and split. Holy Bible is one of my 'mental' albums. Either makes me feel better or worse as appropriate ;)

Nice, was listening to Gold Against the Soul only this morning. Cracking album (as is Holy Bible). Bit hit or miss sometimes, but overall I like them.

    @PES_Fanboy

Well when they started, their mantra was that their first album would sell like 16 million copies and then they'd split up.

10 albums, a few greatest hits compilations, numerous B-side compilations and 24 years later...

....and 24 years later - STILL RELEVANT.

Unlike many of the bands who are getting older :)

I really like their new stuff. But didn't realise music videos were still a thing - good watch though!

    You dare to strike Scurrcules!?

Nice one. I haven't met them unfortunately but I did get James's set list when I saw them in Wolverhampton once.

Couple of things to share. First up, full album sampler here:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C4mIOINia8M

About 23 mins long so a taster of each song. Very different, very good, parts remind me of early simple minds (think Empires and Dance era) and to be honest I think the whole album is an homage to those experimental times. I'm honestly loving it now I've got over the shock.

Secondly, I left it too late to order the signed CD from the official store, so ordered the normal one instead. Thought I would try my luck and contacted someone on facebook who worked for the official store. She sent me a super secret link where I could order one of a handful of signed copies that were left over (price for the signed is the same as the normal). So order I did!! Delighted. That's 3 of their albums I have signed, though only one of them was signed in person. Still! Made my day :)

Thank's for posting that, just listened at work. Really enjoyable.

The new songs sound much different to when I heard them live. The production is fantastic.

    Going to be buying this.

Splendid, will have a listen later on - haven't really kept an eye on them for a while but picked up Rewind the Film earlier this year & was pleasantly surprised at how good it was.

I just paid a sickening amount of money for two standing tickets in dublin because ticketmaster site was shite when they originally went on sale.

Have arranged to get the kids minded and will spring it on my wife a few days beforehand and book a hotel for the night.

Holy Bible in full!  Wowser :)

Good lad, nice one. Don't forget Mr Foo Fighter does not like bands playing an entire album on stage...
Edit, just read your post re mentioning the superb Simple Minds, the new album is brilliant, seeing them live next year :-)
