    @altitude2k

The same can be said for most unsc vehicles.

The game was prettier therefore the scale of options had to be ramped down to accommodate.

Vehicles take a back seat in halo 4. I hardly ever get a banshee or scorpion. In that regard halo 4 was step backwards

Jesus, played around an hour of four player split screen online tonight.
It really is shit now isn't it. Same f'ing maps, stupid weapon balance, flow is all wrong. Just everything felt wrong.
Local was more fun but still it just didn't feel balanced compared to 3.
I need to repeat something, same f'ing maps over and over. You lucky if you get to play four different ones.

Hm, I'm half and half about the weapon balance. It's less useful to just stick to the DMR now, so that's good. Although I do start complaining to myself sometimes when I'm losing but that's just me being a sore loser. I can't dominate with the DMR like I used to so it's made me try and mix it up some.

Halo Monday's are still the most fun I have online and we actually got a few games on the newer maps this week. I find I enjoy 4's multiplayer over Reach but that's probably because I feel like I'm better at it.

Can you even play 4 player s/screen online?! Given how the engine struggles with 2...

You can, it runs okay on haven but the only other map you play on halo 4 matchmaking, ragnarock, it struggles.

Did have fun at one point scoring a flag by us four dying loads, would each gain about another ten metres before getting killing but working as the four we managed to walk it back. The final bit at the base required a lot of self sacrifice to act as bullet sponges to protect flag carrier.

Sadly other team was far better so only viable option was to defend the flag for the final six minutes. Weapon balance seems well off, I think someone was using the promeathian? Machine gun, seemed to kill in seconds even at mid range.

I don't think the balancing is off. The problem with weapons is random spawning.

    Hi folks.
I'm returning to the game after a break and looking for some active players. Is there a regular crowd here? I'm keen to try out the later dlc as I seem to have missed all that and they never turn up online.

I think (in my opinion) that there are just too many powerful weapons, it's sometimes frustrating to constantly get destroyed by 1 hit kill weapons. Or for example the SAW, it's sooo overpowered, it was before then they patch it to make it even more powerful, which was such a stupid idea.

There's simply too much power weapons; rockets, 3 snipers one of which is a 1 hit kill, Incendiary Cannon, Scattershot, Sticky Detonator, Fuel Rod Cannon....it's all too much.

    Just my thought on it

@danphillips You'll keep missing that DLC until 343 make a dedicated playlist for all the DLC maps lol.

I think the range of weapons is fine, but with random drops AND ordnance (which is handed out all too often), it does become a high-explosive/sniper fest on BTB. I'm in favour of dropping map-based power weapons altogether - random or fixed. Let the ordnance provide those, but at a lower frequency.

That kills the point in Halo though, its always been out map movement and getting the power weapons on the map. For me I hope they get rid of ordnance all together.

Yeah, keep map weapons (fixed spawns), scrap ordnance.

I doubt 343 will actually go back to anything. They will just move on and try something else. Don't think there is a hope of back to basics.

Likely Halo will turn into Battlefield if I was to guess. Specific classes, ridiculous amount of unlocks, UNSC catalogue inflated with all sorts of attachments and weapon types. Non human weapons sidelined to campaign, multiplayer only match types like Spartan Ops, Classic Covenant/Promethean Battle or become specialist unlock weapons, possibly power ones and vehicles can still add that old Halo flavour. Speaking of vehicles, they need some new ones.

How do the non-Infinity matches compare, though? No armour abilities, fixed loadouts and no ordnance, aren't they?

    No.

Non-infinity simply means no ordnance. Which is better. But all the other things remain: random spawns of weapons, loadouts, etc.

Random weapon drops, yes. But last time I played a non-Infinity match I didn't have my own loadouts for selection. I remember being confused into picking something wildly inappropriate for Ragnarok for my first outing.

Also didn't have my armour abilities (which I assumed was because they were tied to my loadouts).

There are some non-Infinity types where you have set loadouts/AAs, but not all - they are particular modes, not the norm.

Ah ok. Still - for the most part they haven't removed the capability of it to play like classic Halo.

Oh dear God, I hope not. My stomach will sink as soon as I see 343 have turned my favourite series into Battlefield. I don't think they would be that stupid, it will more than likely by more of the same as Halo 4, just with different things and some changes to what we have.

I sound like I'm in a minority here but I don't mind ordnance drops. Plus, I quite like the fact the weapons are randomised for the simple reason that if the sniper is in the same place, there's a scramble to get it every time. It makes people change up their weapons and not just rely on the same tactics.

I'd like to think it makes people better and more varied at the game by force. I have a friend that plays it that is useless with anything other than a sniper. I understand my opinion sounds like it's against the grain mind, but *shrug* :)

There are some positives to it, no doubt. But I prefer a system that rewards map control and team play. Plus you sometimes have one side of a map being favoured - more a problem of calculation than spawning, if you see what I mean.

With the random drops, everyone can still see where the binary rifle etc. is. If you want to coordinate an team effort to get it you can certainly do so. But instead of everyone dashing to the same location at the beginning of every single round, you get it mixed up a bit.

In practice I have found that in Halo 4 MP the battle really does tend to move around to different areas - both within and between matches. Previous Halo games really did tend to have one or two areas max where combat took place. I'd be interested to see the heat maps for 4 (curse you, 343!).

I prefer it, if I'm honest. And I know exactly why they did it.

That's the point though. Halo is all about getting the power weapons and having map control. If it is all random, like Halo 4, that is completely taken away.

Map control zzz. It's all about flowing battles, not teams of experienced players controlling the power weapons etc.

Play CoD if that's what you want. This is Halo, not anything else. Halo is and should always be about map control.

No. I've been a halo player since day one and one of the bad things was it was too easy for players who play lots to control say the rocket launcher spawn.

Same people would have the beast weapons and would win. It should be about skill not the fact you controlled the rocket launcher and overshield spawn.

Oh look they have to plasma sword again. Simple fact is if you half good it is easy to.dominate in halo as the power weapons are crazy powerful.
