    Any body else have a strange feeling that this game is somehow a bit too perfect and clinical? Like an 80s pop record or Playboy model? Somehow its all a bit too clean and precise, without the slightly wonky quirks that can make you fall in love with something?

    /skint bloke trying to justify a temporary trade in so he can afford to pick up a copy of Far Cry 3 on Friday

    Yeah, it does feel that way, very structured, planned and box ticking. Loses a little fun because of it and any slight change is obviously noticeable after Bungie for so many games but hard to knock it for that, more the direction and content I'm not enjoying as much, you kinda don't know how good you had it until it's gone. After playing it for a while I'm not warming to it which is a shame. First try and all but too many steps backwards and just bizarre choices. Think I'll play some Far Cry and come back, see if it grabs me. Would be sad to not like Halo any more.

    Love this game, in fact it's probably my favourite Halo yet. I've never buried myself in the fiction though while still enjoying the story for what it is.

    Off the back of an earlier post I've just watched all the terminal videos, something I didn't even know existed! While playing the campaign, as much as I loved it I really couldn't understand why they made the story so impenetrable to everyone expect the absolute Hardcore who've ready all the books, it just didn't make sense. To find that they had produced those cut scenes and hidden them away like they did makes even less sense, it would have given the story for more weight to pop one of those in between each level, as the story now makes sense and is surprisingly good.

    I do really rate Halo 4. And if I trade it in I will definatly pick it up again later. Its just that I think I can get my Halo fun from Reach (which I do love) for a few weeks before I pick up Halo 4 again on payday...

    ...there's just something bit less fun with Halo 4. Obviously it's technically superb, but it may be something as tiny as the grenades being a bit less explosive. Or missing Firefight. Or the less OTT commentator voice. Or not having Pelicans in Forge. Or the fact I still have a positive k/d ratio and can't face losing it. I don't know what it is, but it's missing a little bit of the fun magic that made me keep coming back to Reach for 2 years and smiling every time I played...

    Reach was far grimmer, narratively and in aesthetic.

    I don't feel it's much tonally different.343: damned if they did/didn't. But culpable for silly decisions, nonetheless. Like Bungie, also.

    It does kind of feel like it's been synthesised in a lab but then it was always going to.

    It's going to take a couple of goes for 343 to own Halo, we're in the first awkward steps. They're not doing bad so far.

    I'm not sure how much more I'll play of Halo 4 after I've finished the last episode of Spartan Ops. I definitely won't pay for a second season if it's anything like the first. It's just the same reused areas over and over.

    I'm just trying to justify a temporary trade in so I can get my stinking unfaithful mitts on Far Cry 3 this weekend. I'll be back in Halo's arms by Xmas!

    The Spartan Ops designers gave an interview over on halo waypoint where they mentioned there will be new areas for the second half of season 1. (source source). Of course it could be the usual PR bullshit, so I'd take it with a grain of salt.

    They also mention that Spartan Ops was developed under a very aggressive schedule and underwent many changes so I imagine they'd have a bit more time for season 2 now that they've nailed the format.

    I have won 26 matchmade games but the achievement for winning 20 games hasn't popped.

    I've gone from really loving the multiplayer, to well, not loving it.

    A combination of lag, unbalanced teams and being matched with people better than me has sucked a lot of the fun of this.:(

    Oh well, at least there's Spartan Ops. And with Far Cry 3 out tomorrow I can't see myself coming back to the multiplayer side for a while. I still need to finish my solo legendary run anyhow. :)

    343i are mostly old Bungie employees, so I don't think the change makes a difference.

    They have some ex Bungie employees. I hardly think it's mostly comprised of them. The proof is in the pudding. The networking team sure as hell aren't that's for sure.

    Holy moly, that peak player chart is frightening.

    I'm no money man, but if I were in charge at 343 I'd panic and release a free map pack. There's a franchise at stake!

    (seriously, surely you'd have a contingency plan in place for massive drop off like that? Or maybe the money men don't care, and were happy to just take the big sales the week before COD hit and think of any map sales after that as a bonus?)

    The MP is rapidly losing its appeal for me- the initial novelty of the change ups to the Halo template is wearing thin and the flaws are becoming large annoyances. Back to Halo 3 I guess.

    Where would they get information like that and if true, how does it compare to others?

    Personally, it's lost my interest ridiculously fast. Might just be Halo in general though, hasn't really changed much and now it's half other games instead of leading with new features. It feels like Halo by committee. Sucked the fun soul out of it. I wonder if it will crash even more once the Spartan Ops season finishes.

    Maybe some of the drop off was to do with recent server issues. Luckily, mine seems to have reconnected finally.

    Maybe...or maybe everyone has moved on.

    Amazingly co-ordinated textbook co-op play last night with @bluescreenwater. Top stuff. Explosions and screaming all over the battlefield.

    Wow, not a nice chart for 343. I am still enjoying the MP outside of Infinity, but the new map pack needs 4v4 maps. Oh wait...
