Out of interest, why did you buy it if you are not a big fan of the series?

Because I'd heard that it had improved on the series in some areas I previously found it lacking. I don't hate it, but I was expecting the campaign to be more engaging and creative than it is.

I think the new weapons sum up the game as a whole. They look enticingly different and have some glowy floaty bits on them, but when you start using them, it turns out they behave just like the old weapons you're used to.

@christourlord this was my thoughts until I first met the promethians and it changed the whole the atmosphere and feel completely to me. A new lease of life. Quite haunting in a way too and epic. Now I can't get enough.

Halo has always been above and beyond were it really matters. I doubt they could do anything more unless they changed the game substantially. Playing it safe no doubt and saving the new stuff for next gen. Sure they would love to do more as long as it resembles Halo. I would be very disappointed if Halo 5 continued the same old on new hardware. Does get tiresome when you've done it so many times before especially after 4-5 games, including countless multiplayer hours.

Right now, 343 can get away with playing it safe. Next time, bring some fresh changes that are great.

Completed it today with Evilashchris and then did a couple of levels at the start to show my mate when he turned up.

I don't know where I'd peg the campaign in the overall series yet but I really enjoyed it by the end. Replaying the first few levels really compounded how much I enjoyed myself. Halo games are always better for me after the initial run. You have an idea of the lay of the land, each time through you find new weapons and parts of the map to use against the enemies. Looking back on all the other Halo games I realise that I never loved each one until the second playthrough.

What I love most about this game is the player movement. It's just so, so right. They really hit it out of the park in regards to 'being' a ton of bad ass super soldier. Can't wait to complete the game on Legendary now with a team of MCs.

Man, Spartan Ops is exactly what I wanted. Looking forwards to doing it all again in Legendary. Got my Knight assassination first try :D Thanks to the Classified puzzle unlocks and Ops, I'm SR10 already.

The terminal videos are awesome, can't wait to see what the code at the end unlocks.

    RE Waypoint Classified:

So, there's some puzzles on the main page, as you may have seen; this is how you unlock Raider armour. The helmet puzzle's not up yet,but the other two have been solved, as well as the ONI emblem unlock (via some online shenanigans on the forums/various videos). Go here for the codes, enter them on the Classified page in the right section. Bear in mind for the Raider stuff you have to have done the relevant Ops mission.

Had another few games of multiplayer earlier and I really can't get my head around it. I feels so wrong and nothing like what a halo multiplayer should be. Game modes feel really limited compared to the bungie offerings of 3 as well.

    Far too many unnecessary layers.

I think I fancy Cortana. An AI character in a computer game. That's a new low.

Gah, can't sleep because I've got the sodding Battle Rifle chirping noise stuck in my head.

All the eurogamers who actually play with each other on xbl rather than just post pseudointellectual pc handwringing bollocks on the forums, love the shit out of biggy.

Might delve into some MP tomorrow for a while between house work and essay writing. Love the Infinity stuff, and the Ops videos are amazing.

And, natch, I'll be looking out to see if they post another puzzle for the Raider helmet tomorrow so I have the set...

Can't say I'm really liking the multiplayer, which makes me sad.

I'm really starting to love mp. It's so frantic but you can still achieve zen focus and flow like water. When you get a good run going it feels fantastic. I haven't had this many 'HELL YEAH!' moments for a for a long time.

Anyway, enough of my gushing. I've noticed a couple of things. When you charge the railgun you can use the standard visor zoom as a scope. Intentional? Useful, but could be overpowered in mp. We'll have to see.

Also, could you always continually fire while performing acrobatics in the banshee before? Makes for some interesting fights.

Weapons do seem less audacious this time around. I think the Prom weapons could have benefited from being a little less about fitting archetypes and more about messing around with the core of shooting someone. However they're still fun too use and do have some cool little intricacies.

I don't have any real grumbles about the weapon roster so far. I've even managed to make the Pulse grenades useful. There is greater need for accuracy on grenades but the results are worth it.

I'm LOVING the MP maps and am enjoying the feeling that it's a slicker, faster beast.

My copy came yesterday, so played first 2 chapters of campaign and then had a go at mp.

The mp is great fun, but its going to require a period of adjustment, it's all changed up quite a bit.

Although grenades are less powerful, it seems to me that the player has less health and shields, so nadeing someone puts them on oneshot or close almost everytime.

Plasma grenades dont do much vs vehicles anymore, I stuck a Ghost and although it damaged it it didn't destroy it or kill the rider.  Stuck a Hog and it didn't do shit...  Banshees seem more fragile.  The Gauss hog cannon doesn't seem as powerful (probably a good thing!)

Nading always lead to one shot kills.

    Come and get it cumslingers!

@muttler - I think there's a loadout where you can increase vehicle durability or quicker recharge of shields or something - it was in the 6 early specialisms from GAME. That's the thing, this stuff is going to come to the fore with perks and loadouts.

I'm not sure nadeing always put someone on oneshot, not if it doesn't land close, or if they manage to move away in time.

I blew up a hog with a sticky. I think, like always, it's where you stick 'em.

@Lotos8ter there's an ability you unlock pretty early called Shielding that speeds up shield recharge.

You cant beat running around a map with an assault rifle in your hand, whilst suddenly, in the distance, you see yourself getting lined up to be run over by a warthog.

However, what the warthog driver and gunner dont realise, is that your second weapon.......is a rocket launcher.

I had one game of MP online TDM last night just to check how it ran with my dodgy internet (pretty well, has to be said). Finished up with a dreadful 2:15 but enjoyed it regardless. Have to remember that coming from Dishonored I can't blink out of people's way - wasted lots of grenades ;-)

I love being able to have a plasma pistol in my loadout. Makes me a lot less scared of vehicles.
