    Problem is, Vista *might* be Ok for basic browsing etc, but who knows how it'll be when it gets it's first service pack and the inevitable extras get installed. It might be worth spending a bit extra now and get a bit more future-proofing. Or see if you can get XP on it.

    You can get something better if you don't mind spending more. (Core 2, 2GB)

    Thanks Carrybagma and others, but the budgetry constraints will outwheigh any possible future proofing.

    Looks like Dell will get the Badger $.
