Problem is, Vista *might* be Ok for basic browsing etc, but who knows how it'll be when it gets it's first service pack and the inevitable extras get installed. It might be worth spending a bit extra now and get a bit more future-proofing. Or see if you can get XP on it.|
You can get something better if you don't mind spending more. (Core 2, 2GB)

Thanks Carrybagma and others, but the budgetry constraints will outwheigh any possible future proofing.
Looks like Dell will get the Badger $.

Aren't internet laptops FREE with some broadband provider contracts? E.G Orange Bells.
Read loads of horror stories on this - take months to get, AOL are an (apparently) shit ISP, just doesn`t sound like its worth the hassle.
I got a £400 laptop for £50 when I signed up with Orange. Great service, got my laptop quicker than promised and internet connection is rapid. Result.
Fair `nuff. Moneysavingexpert has loads of people stressing about it - guess they must be swamped by requests and taking strain to keep up ?
