Have to nip to the hospital this afternoon (nothing serious) and will no doubt be sitting around for a bit. Didn't have the foresight to bring my DS, so will pick up a mag in town.

Just wondering what's best? Games TM, Edge, Gamesmaster?

Or should I get Stephen King's The Gunslinger? I've been tempted to start the Dark Tower series.

    Wait, no! Get that!

    Dark Tower > Gaming Mags.

Edge is the best but Games TM is a bit more of a lighter read, it's all preference and avoid gamesmaster it's pants.

    Portable view - Never forget.

Buy a book. They last longer and are about the same price. Seriously, I have tried them all and you're better off with a book.
If you want to read about video games, buy a related book like 'Only you can save mankind'!

Despite the howls of ELETIST PRETENTIOUS ASS HATS ! and the like, Edge is still the finest games magazine out there. Lots of good exclusive features, and their 'making of' section is always great. (System Shock 2 this month :)

    So yeah, pick up Edge.

And start on the Dark Tower series aswell, its well worth reading. (The Gun Slinger is rather short though, and after reading it you Will want to continue so pick up Book 2 : The Drawing of the Three aswell, which is aces.)

Probably Edge. I used to enjoy Games TM though, the only two worth considering IMO.

    +1

Mr King always gets a load of flack - mainly because he deals with the kind of themes at which so-called literary critics balk.

    (e.g child eating clowns).

Buy a Beano, a couple of chocolate bars AND save money :D

It'll be more challenging to read than Gamesmaster too.

As far back as I can remember I always wanted to be a ninja.

GamesTM, it's thicker and covers more than edge, quantity over quality(and edge ain't all that sister /wobbles head). There's fork all in edge this month, biffos bored this month and minter is just whinging on about his tempest clone again...

Tut! Xenogears retrospective in this month's Edge! Worth the asking price alone!

Just for the record, I bought Dragon Tears by Dean Koontz and thanks to a noisey waiting room I only read 30 pages.

I like Edge because not only can you actually "read" things in there, its a very pretty magazine, sometimes i just flick through ones i've read already just looking at screenies.

Don't really read them much for the reviews - i generally know what games i'm going to get regardless of reviews - but the special features are great

eg this month there was a special on the making of System Shock 2

games™ is just a magazine that wants to be Edge, it does a fairly good job of it however still reads like it's written for 12 year olds.

Used to pick up Edge every month without fail, but sites like Eurogamer and Gametrailers kind of make mags a bit expensive and redundant to me. Last couple Edges I've borrowed from a mate have been great though

I'm papercaves on the Twitter. This is mah Tumblr and I'm ulysseys31 on PSN :D

I finished the Dark Tower series a few months ago. It's AMAZING. Just keep reading Eurogamer and check Gamerankings, and read the DT instead.
