Sport, you are on Whatsapp. Do you use it?

I really enjoyed Facebook as a social tool until the 'Take a picture of fucking everything and post it' generation came along. Oh, your tea eh? Oh, cool picture of the DVD you just bought mate! FUCK OFF.

Sort of - only to send pics of the kids to my cousin in SA, who shows it to my technophobic dad.

Heh. Like the Japanese girl on my friend list that keeps posting a pic of the meal she ordered/prepared. To be fair I believe it's a pretty big thing over there.

But that would be interesting, unlike the vast majority of the other crap that pops up.

And this week an old friend has been on what looks like a hen trip to somewhere hot, so I get a batch of group bikini pictures every morning.

    @DaM

Had one or two similar incidents with not-so-shabby pics but it doesn't happen nearly as often enough as I'd like to make it worth staying with FB.

So here I am, just closed my account \o/ and waiting for 14 days for the cooling off period. Just in case one of my gadgets might remember an old session I changed the password, printed it out and ate it.

It kinda feels like committing social suicide, have this terrible feeling of missing out in my gut now but it'll pass... I hope!

I deactivated mine a month ago after some arguments with someone spilled over onto mutual friend's pages. Messy.

And you know, I don't miss it. In fact, quite the opposite. I hadn't realised just how much I was checking it, like internet crack or something.

    Won't be going back.

Both my parents (68 and 72) joined in the past year or so, and my brothers. We don't keep in touch much as a family but I've realised that facebook is the perfect tool for us to stay in touch without actually having to change and talk to each other more.

Just read this reply to a friend who has been subject to work-based thievery

I use Skype to make landline calls with my family at home (I live abroad for over a decade) and Google Talk (video or just IM) with my mates, the rest is via email or simply calling and meeting each other.

A lot of people added me to their list (current and former colleagues, primary schoolmates etc.) without ever exchanging a single word since.

I'm wondering though how those who would maybe like to get in touch will 'find' me now, but then I suppose we lost contact for a reason, and if people haven't so far made an attempt to connect through FB they won't do it in the future.

I've got a very common, unremarkable name which I share with people who are more famous than me, and I don't have facebook page. I'm like the invisible man.

I find Facebook is much better when you hide the annoying pricks you don't have the heart to unfriend from your news feed.

I can't say I hate facebook, it has its benefits, met a cousin who I had not seen in over 25 years through it so in that respect it is good.

But it is the same old shit day in day out from the same old people, I have grown tired of it and deactivated my account. Is it normal to want to go back to see if anyone noticed? :S

By the way that was not a criticism of anyone I have added from here, most of you here provide interesting stuff it is everyone else who done me in.
