Thought I'd throw a few in to the pot for now. Not all exactly the heaviest ever or owt - some just sound it in the context of the song they're in, the way they punctuate the space or in their tone somehow.

I'm glad that 'The Thing that Should Not Be' is mentioned :)

I've not heard 'To Carry The Load' by Crowbar before (or any Crowbar really, except their cover of No Quarter), but yeah, sounds bloody great. More like what I'd consider to be 'heavy', whatever that is. Listening to a Crowbar mix on youtube now - they certainly have weight ;)

Neurosis - Through Silver In Blood (around 6:45)
    Mogwai - Like Herod
    Faith No More - Malpractice
    Black Sabbath - Black Sabbath
    Buzzov•En - Blinded, Pathetic
G//Z/R - Catatonic Eclipse, Drive Boy Shooting
    Deftones- Korea
Entombed - Clauses (big Neurosis feel here)
    Testament - Over The Wall
Soundgarden - Slaves and Bulldozers, Room a Thousand Years Wide
    Sepultura - Roots Bloody Roots
    Senser - States of Mind
    A - Nothing
    Ozzy - No More Tears
    Opeth - The Leper Affinity
    Cancer Bats - Bastard's Waltz

We going to sort this thread title out or what?

Think of how stupid the average person is, and realise half of them are stupider than that

    Meshuggah - Break those Bones...
Down - Bury Me in Smoke
    Gorguts - Nostalgia
Mastodon - March of the Fire Ants

Have you seen the first Cooking With Phil Anselmo video? (pretty sure I found it here to begin with).

    It's even funnier!

Anyone else think Cleanse the Soul is hugely underrated and one of the best Slayer songs?

Nah, there's tight riffing and drumming on it, but the vocal hooks and lead playing are a bit shit.

@FuzzyDuck Not with my own material. There's next to no scene for this kind of stuff and I can't find competent, dedicated band members :(

    @Progguitarist

    That's what I feared.

There's bugger all of any kind of scene where I am (Sligo) apart from the jazz (a good thing!), but even finding fellow metal fans is difficult, much less those into progressive shenanigans.

Right, there was that. But the riffing is fucking intense, and among the best I know.

Same here in my bit of West Dorset. I'd like to get a little band together. But there's no scene here at all.

Is anyone going to Bloodstock in 2014? Or interested in it?

I heard Crowbar have just been announced, aswell as a few others. Children of Bodom being one of them.

Not really a fan of Children of Bodom, however I lvoe their shows? They are good live. Its an odd relationship I have with that band.

    Flotsam & Jetsam too!

Crikey, Emperor are playing. Crowbar, Decapitated, Down, Saxon, Obituary, yeah I'd hit that. If I didn't live in wee old Ireland.

@Architect_z if I wanted to be preached at by a religious nut job, I would look at my facebook feed.
F&J maybe, but not worth forking out for a weekend ticket, catch them when they do their own gig.

    Will probably be doing Bloodstock.

Early birded for Download, on the assumption that Dillinger Escape Plan will play next year.

Also looking at Alt-fest. Mainly for Onslaught and another weekend of booze and campsite LULZ.
