Cheers for that. I've got quite a lot of Insomnium, nice to hear some new material. Great band.

No problem fella, Insomnium are my favourite melodeath band by a far reaching distance, really stoked about this. The new EP is out on Monday featuring four new tracks, three of the songs being instrumentals!

There's so much good death metal floating around at the minute. Really enjoying this particular slab right now.

I assume this isn't a bad place to ask this. Using my bass (This, if anyone cares and the sound cuts out of the amp, but it also happens on Rocksmith with different cables, obviously, so I assume it has to be the guitar.

Moving it around seems to be the problem/solution, has anyone experienced anything similar?

    Get bent.

Have just purchased a dab/Internet radio, highly recommend, discovered metal assault radio. No fucking censoring of songs either!

Sounds like your jack socket. You can either give it a blast of WD40 to see if that improves it or check the socket for lose wires / worn connectiony bits

    I'm a grumpy bastard.

A good watch, as is always the case with Anselmo.

Did anyone here either play or watch people play Rocksmith 2014? It's a game I would consider buying myself :)

Our Glenn may be a bit of a knob head and have a dislike for fluffy bunnies, but he can still pull off some seriously heavy shit!  http://www.blabbermouth.net/news/deicide-in-the-minds-of-evil-title-track-available-for-streaming/#I5QI2APhH6IzK98k.01

Perhaps one of the most talented, perhaps one of the most insane death metal bands out there. I don't dare discussing the difference.

    Great track :)

Want to hear something funny, for a long time some album of Deicide's that I had was my shaving music :D It was the one that started with a song about Charles Manson, and the only word I understood was 'MANSONNNNNNN' :)

@BeardedGamerUK The wife refers the Legion album to 'that one with the sheep in it'. I'll give her her dues though, she can pull off a mean death grunt.

I guess the audience is more appropriate in here, than the current listening thread. Most unique sounding death metal I've heard in a while - all done by a two piece!

Bill Bailey on team rock radio at the moment. So far I've caught 3 songs and they've all been Mastodon...

@OllyJ Yup! Needless to say, I've had Trey and co. on in the kitchen every time i've made dinner this week!

Anyway, Friday night entertainment. One of the greatest guitar tones in metal at 00:55...

Did not realize this was out so thanks for the heads up. Had a few listens over the weekend and it is indeed rather excellent. Thrashtasticness!

Oh, and for me, Suffocation will never be better (or better for that matter) "Despise the Sun" which is really Death Metal perfection (even though it is only an EP). I do like their earlier stuff though as well so not being disparaging.

Yep, "Despise The Sun" is my favourite Suffo release too, it's just obscenely heavy. Dave Culross is an absolute beast behind the kit too. Best production job of their career as well.

So megadave for bloodstock. Can't say I'm surprised, was hoping for priest. Just hope they concentrate on the first half of their catalogue and our dave doesn't start ranting on stage.

hahaha hat's not fair, it changes on a daily basis! and the age old what defines heavy? Essentially I'm just going for riffs that batter you and make you go uggghhhhh BUT.....I'll go for......

    Suffocation - Funeral Inception
Crowbar - To Carry the Load
Dying Fetus - Praise the Lord (Opium for the masses)

For me it's ALL ABOUT the end riff.

although these sometimes make it into the top three:
    Converge - The Saddest Day
Meshuggah - New Millenium Cyanide Christ
    Neurosis- Become the Ocean
Nile - Black Seeds of Vengeance

So what's otyher peoples "Heaviest Riffs ever"???

I know! I was actually trying to quantify what "heavy" was the other day with a mate so it's a fresh topic!

I'll say we've got a similar definition of "heavy", as one of mine outside of Despise The Sun is also on Crowbar's Odd Fellow's Rest... ... And Suffer As One just sounds like being smacked with a brick! (as does that entire album).

There's so many though! Off the top of my head...

    Gorguts - Nostalgia
    Disincarnate - Beyond The Flesh
    Carcass - Reek of Putrefaction
    Candlemass - Demon's Gate
    Paradise Lost - Rotting Misery
    Brutal Truth - Ordinary Madness

Argh, dunno what to listen to on my merry way now this morning...
