    Definitely looking forward to the new Tesseract. Thank god Kahney dumped Fellsilent for better things.

    Finally listening to the new Ocean album now whilst at work, really liking it so far. Nothing hair raising yet, but I've always found that with every Ocean release - they're brilliant but always just shy of awesome.

    Favourite new band discovery of my week is Woe, a black metal-infused band from the US. New album Withdrawal is on Spotify and is pretty awesome. They have another couple on there too which seem equally strong.

    I reckon you'll like them if you like bands like liturgy or Deafheaven.

    Slayer's Jeff Hanneman has died, according to the band's Facebook page.

    Sad times.

    Very sad times indeed. Have just seen the news on Twitter.

    RIP Jeff.

    Killed by a spider?
  • Deleted user 3 May 2013 00:12:17
    Liver failure...

    Apparently he was really lucky to not have been killed by the necrotising spider bite that time.

    Reign In Blood gave me my first taste of anything resembling extremity and I still love it to this day.

    R.I.P. Jeff!

    Jaysus, the reporting of his passing on Billbord.com is terrible. They originally reported how "the band's first 3 albums Reign In Blood, South of Heaven and Seasons In The Abyss..." but have since edited it.

    There's now a bit how "the group made an eyebrow-raising move to the hip-hop label Def Jam in 1986 for the covers album "Undisputed Attitude and the classic "Reign in Blood.".

    It'd be nice to have the reporter's cushy job and not have to go to my own crap hole employment tomorrow! :D

    Lost a metal brother and legend.
    His music kept me sane through dark times.
    Horns up

    Not something I expected to wake up to today. As with many above they were part of defining my early metal years and albums like South of Heaven, Reign in Blood and Seasons in the Abyss are still favourites and listened to often.

    RIP Jeff, a true metal legend.

    What do you mean "turned in to"? King was a massive asshole for long as I can remember.

    Angel of Death was the only metal song on the jukebox at my Uni. The number of times we cleared the bar with that one...

    Gutted when I heard this morning. You do wonder if Slayer can continue without Jeff. He is such an integral part of the lineup.

    Think I shall be playing the Soundtrack to the Apocalypse today.

    Considering that they're playing gigs this summer with no proper members other than Kerry King it's a possibility.

    Kerry King's Slayer with special guests.
  • Deleted user 3 May 2013 19:15:23
    @warlockuk

    Think Muse wrote a song about King, or is Supermassive Arsehole about something else? :D

    Araya's still on board, that report about Newstead replacing him went out on April 1st...

    One has to wonder what Araya's status within the band if Lombardo could be given the heave-ho in such an unceremonious manner.

    @Graveland

    This one is 11 years old, but he really didn't think much of Adrian Erlandsson's playing! (amongst others).

    And KK wasn't too keen on Dave Lombardo being paid his fair share.

    Aaaaannnnnd he used managers to communicate with Hannemann during downtime. He also states that he played most of the guitar parts for the last few years. Which would make sense as Slayer have been shit for the last few years, probably longer.

    From my own perspective - have you seen the state of him? Only a douche would get tattoos like his, wear spikes and refer to himself as 'Kerry Fuckin' King'. 'Boy Named Sue' syndrome, methinks!

    And as much as I dislike Machine Head, KK was more than a bit cuntish about it!

    @Graveland

    These too! :D

    He doesn't like KSE much either!

    Recent cuntishness.

    @FuzzyDuck I'd put him over King in Slayer tbh.
