I'm liking that - interesting doorsy feel at the start. Will have to give it a proper listen tomorrow morning at work!

Trailer for the upcoming Summoning record!

The monologue is highly bothersome but sounds promising from what I can hear.

Can't listen at work but I'm sure my response will be something along the lines of "WANT! WANT! WANT!"

@ILoveThrashMetal having witnessed an attack on a 'goth' guy and met some of the people involved in the Sophie Lancaster Foundation I find that article to be just as sickening as we would expect from the Fail.

Chi Cheng has sadly (and inevitably) passed away.

    Rest in peace.

Just read that there. Only got into the Deftones properly in the last 6 months or so, and really enjoyed his playing.

    R.I.P. sir :(

Shit, I hadn't heard about the whole car accident thing. I had no idea.

They were a massive part of the soundtrack to my college/uni years. Terrible news.

Seems to be all bassists dying of late :/ It's three years today since Pete Steele died, too.

@Syrette oh no, it sounded like he was recovering.

    RIP Chi Cheng.

I kind of thought all along it was a bit of a stretch to suggest he was going to recover. Sad.

RIP Chi, thanks for being a big part of the band that got me hooked on metal!

@StixxUK not fully, but all the reports had sounded more positive recently. Such a shame.

Saw Bossk live yesterday, that doesn't happen very often!

The Ocean were meant to be headlining but had some kind of travel problem. Other bands were all awesome though. Shapes, Lo! and Empress.

Bossk really do the post-metal thing extremely well and Lo! were a pleasant surprise, never heard of them before but proper good sludgy hardcore.

Now just to keep watch and see when The Ocean are rescheduling for!

Well Helloween were a bit disappointing. I think this was the set list. I've had a few beers:

    I wanna be God
    Nabotea
    Eagle Fly Free
    Steel Tormentor
    Straight out off Hell
    Live Now (part 1)
    Drum silo
    I'm Alive
Live Now (part 2) with lots of audience interaction (it went on for about 15 minutes)
    Where the Sinners Go
    Dr Stein
    If I Could Fly
    Halloween (but not quite)
    I Want Out

All played very well but missing some great tunes.

In a night featuring both Gamma Ray and Helloween I expected more. It was great but I've left without hearing Armageddon, Victim of Fate and Keeper of the Seven Keys.

I've seen Helloween a few times with Derris I think. I seem to recall it was awesome - but once or twice it was just a bit flat...

    I can't believe they didn't do Keeper :/
Still - I'd have loved to have been at that gig :D

Black Sabbath just released their new single.

Nearly 9 minutes long and it is very good. I think it sounds like it could be from an early album and not the trash they made late 70s early 80s.

Iommi is a relentless awesome rift machine.

    Roll on December 10.

    @Pepsipop

It's pretty decent! Apart from Ozzy, he might as well just be talking over it.

What's the general consesus on Slam Death Metal bands, like Devourment and Cephalotripsy?

One of the thread regulars posted up an excellent link to a decent DM blog, some cool stuff I never heard of on it, will dig back for it...
