@Syrette Yeah, wasn't too impressed. I haven't been sure how I feel about DEP for a good few years now, not since Miss Machine really, but at least they're still bloody excellent live.

Made a great cd for my car earlier..

    Enter the sandman
    Sad but true
    Where ever I my roam
    Mz Hyde
    Freak like me
    Electric funeral
    Sweet leaf
    Into the void
    Sabbath bloody Sabbath
    Shoot to thrill
    BAck in black
You shook me all night long
    Night train (edited)
    Welcome to the jungle (edited)
    Lemon song
    Rock and roll
    Black dog
    Out on the tiles

    :)

More importantly there is no swearing and my daughters love it.
  • Deleted user 19 March 2013 14:50:19

Never mind. What was the last album you bought / streamed over Spotify-or-similar, and what did you think?

    I'm a grumpy bastard.

What did you say when they asked what Percy was on about during the Lemon Song? Or what the general theme of You Shook Me All Night Long is referring to? Sweet Leaf?

You may have edited out the swearing but it seems you're more than happy to have them exposed to sex and drugs without much concern.

You can't sanitise rock music. Just chuck 'em in at the deep end with Cannibal Corpse turned to 11.
  • Deleted user 19 March 2013 16:00:03
they aren't even 4 yet, it will be a while until they ask what sweet leaf is all about. :)

it is better for them to sing along to black sabbath then Jay z.

Well yes, but there are certain unspoken rules. If mentioning one of the worst songs Metallica have ever committed to plastic (which is saying something in itself) and getting the name wrong isn't one, then it is now.

What is 'edited' in Night Train - there's no swearing in it? Do you mean the awful radio edit?
Or Welcome to the Jungle for that matter.

Not as nice as I used to be

  • Deleted user 19 March 2013 16:05:08

Alastair, who are you kidding? You're about as metal as I am. i.e., not very.

The thing about KSE that I can never past - and Machine Head are exactly the same - is that I've never heard a good riff from them, not once.

Is it just me? I just find them so mind-numbingly boring to listen to. Admittedly I'm not really a huge fan of metalcore anyway, but I like it when it's done well.

Admittedly it's nowhere near anything from 1-4 but compared to the woeful dross that came after it, it's a masterpiece.

Haggard, try Machine Head's first two albums if you haven't already.

This particular song from The More Things Change is choc full of riffs from beginning to end

I do get what you mean though. I haven't liked much of their stuff since 1999.

Heh point taken, but I never did see the appeal of Sandman from any point of view, it's just awful.

I'm one of those people who only really likes Ride the Lightning and Puppets though. Saw them on the Justice tour in 88 and the rot had clearly set in, the black album just sealed it.

I'm a committed 1-4 groupie, Justice being the weakest but still defecating over anything after. It's a sign of how far they fell that DM is their best outing since Justice, by any other measure it would be little more than a footnote in metal history.

I seldom listen to Metalcore these days but will always check out a Jesse Leach fronted KSE, Im always hoping they can capture something resembling Alive or Just Breathing.

As for riffs, I actually think some of Adam D's best work was on the Times Of Grace record.
