Cheers for the heads-up. Not been long since Diamond Eyes has it? Or at least it doesn't feel like it.

Off to see Devin Townsend in Bristol next month with Fear Factory supporting. Never seen FF live before but I am not expecting them to be a good live band.
I do like their old stuff but I stopped listening to them about 10 years ago so no idea what they are like now.

Very good if you ask me, all members have been been in the game long enough to be seasoned live performers.

Ok cool. I'll go in with an open mind then. Cheers.
Even if I don't get on with them I know Townsend can come through. Seen him twice before and loved every second.

@L_Franko A cursory listen to their new album suggests they've not progessed their style much since remanfacture and the sound form that era when they started to incorporate more electronica.

not bad but like you i've not really listened in years. should be a good ear bleednig sesh :D

I can't remember the name of the last album of FF's I bought but it was when they tried to add hiphop to some of their songs. I heard that and said 'I'm out.'

I do have Demanufacture on the phone so might give it a listen in a mo to warm up the ears for them :)

Pity Hoglan ain't with FF any more, he's mesmerising to watch, would add something to their show for sure.

Why does "talking of" Deftones lead to a picture of Korn?? Same era, ish, both guitar bands, but an infinite ocean of difference in terms of sound and quality I reckon. Korn are horrendous, first album excepted..

Answered your own question there. In the future try taking things less seriously.

    Sainpaul - Le Reproche

New side project from Fursy Teyssier of Les Discrets. Its far from metal but I know a few people in this thread enjoy LD and will find worth in it.

Saw Opeth/Anathema the other night at Nottingham. They were awesome. And only one Heritage song, thank the heavens.

    Get bent.

Was it the song that sucks off Rush?

    Whoa, loaded question there! :D

I will say that as a total Rush fanboy, that 'Presto' is by some margin their weakest album, the production job is almost as monotone as the album sleeve, while the songs are just plain uninspired (apart from 'The Pass, but that uses really similar intervals in the main riff as 'Witch Hunt', so i never listen to the bugger).

Don't know if it has been mentioned, but there is a free Century Media sampler at the Amazon mp3 store if you like that sort of thing.

Yeah! The Sword are fun times. I hear the new Witchcraft album is ace, too - must get that.

I can't shake the feeling when I listen to The Sword that I'm doing what my old man did years ago listening to Sabbath or something; makes me feel old and hairy.

Granted I have no idea what they're banging on about but musically I love it, they really take the polish off their albums.

Not listened to any Witchcraft, guessing they're along similar lines?

Yeah, Witchcraft essentially sound like they're from the 70s, despite being 30 years late to the party.

Can see what you mean; if I was their studio tech I'd be dialling up the distortion knob, mind you... ;)

@happyhammer81 Been into Gods Of The Earth for a while, but only recently tried out Warp Riders and Apocryphon. Fucking awesome albums. If there's one thing those guys can do well, it's nice big chunky riffs. Great to blast in the car to.

@Tuffty Warp Riders is definitely my favourite. I've heard a few tracks from Apocryphon but tend to go to Spotify for a spin before I buy, and because they've changed labels there's only a 2-track promo on there :(

You're right on the big chunky riffs. I remember when Metallica were doing St Anger they said about getting back to the "riff-o-rama" stuff, truth is they just cut and paste. The Sword DO knock out riff after riff - brilliant to listen to.
