Martin Eric Ain has passed away at 50. No age to go!

    Damn...

According to Wikipedia, he did the lead vocals to this song, so here goes:

    @DrStrangelove For sure.

It sounds completely like Celtic Frost while still having a modern sound. Heavy as all feck as well.

The new Cannibal Corpse album is pretty good. It's basically the same as every other album they've released over the last ten years, but why change what isn't broken. :D

I know its been a long time since In The Arms of God but the new Pepper COC album is pretty much exactly as I'd want and expect from them following on from that sound

Talking of Cannibal Corpse, i've been listening to Power Trip who supported them recently, it's a pretty solid and good thrash metal album, no filler at all.

Bell Witch have been getting a lot of adulation for Mirror Reaper.

Possibly best album art ever but the song itself does very little for me.

Still, love that it's epically long and has the voice from the grave on it. None more doom!

Been listening to Mirror Reaper a fair bit and I'm still undecided if I'm honest, but I keep playing it so it must be doing something for me. I'm not normally into this type of doom (or any doom) but the cover art drew me in! It really is awesome.

That said they are in Glasgow end of March and I am seriously considering making the trip south...

I love it, that and Heartless by Pallbearer are my metal albums of the year. But then I do love doom.

Today however I have discovered something that couldn't be further from Bell Witch. I've been playing Alestorm all day and against my better judgement I'm loving them. Could well be a guilty pleasure.

I also have been listening to Savage Sinusoid by Igorrr but don't know if that counts as metal or... something. I have genuinely no idea. I don't even know if it's listenable, yet it really is, but also isn't. Fucking mental is what it is. Yet I like it. Or not.

Alestorm work because they're actually decent songwriters on top of the silliness. Their recent album was kind of lacklustre though. Although Treasure Island is fantastic and possibly their best.

I've only been listening to their latest but wil grab the rest off i-choons for a listen as well. Oddly (or maybe not) enough they actually remind me of Dropkick Murphys with their celtic-infused riffy story-telling.

@wuntyphyve their second is quite forgettable, but the first, third and fourth are all worth your time.

I'm completely fascinated by the Alcatraz festival that's being headlined by Behemoth and Status Quo in Belgium next year.

Most of the bill is varying degrees of extreme (and Mr Big and Fozzy are playing) so I don't know what's up with Quo being there but I also think they'd be a right great bit of fun after all the misery and intensity of everyone else

Not metal, but Jess and the Ancient Ones continue to bring the occult psych rock noise:

    https://youtu.be/0agOBzveTC8

Incredibly infectious stuff. The second track, Shining, is an absolute banger.

Just seen the news about Dane, gutted, he's one of my favourite vocalists. Equally shit it's Chuck Schuldiner's anniversary today too!
