Was it common knowledge it'd be on Steam? I had no idea (although it had occurred to me that they'd be trying)...

What kind of hardware would I need to run it?

If you can read this you really need to fiddle with your forum settings.

Steam is going to end up being absolutely required for PC gaming at this rate.

I actually quite like it but I do think they need to sort out some way to let you sell games once you finished them, or if not they need to reduce prices further to reflect the fact that you're buying permission to play rather than a tangible game you can resell...

You're always buying permission to use and never any sort of rights to the game or its distribution no matter if you get it digitally or buy the DVD.

Steam always reminds me of a cluster bomb. The contents is often spectacular and dazzling, but the delivery mechanism causes so much unwarranted suffering to those who least deserve it.

Any ideas why steam is ignoring my clicks on purchase or pre-load?

49.95 USD is way too good.

Was paid today and I think I can spare the pennies.

Well if FruitSalad's info is correct they're shipping on Monday so you'd get it earlier than that, however I've no idea when the authentication goes live so until Tuesday US time it might not be possible to actually get it going.

Released is the official street date, but by definition shops need the gear in before that to get stocked. Online stores all the more so.
