... to some magazine or other. No real info yet, due to the greasy backhanders.

    Had enough first-person shooters yet?

    GameFront reckons it's a "sci-fi FPS/RPG Mad Max meets Diablo tag-team combo".

Hmm, cars, future tech, clannishness, semi-desert setting?

    Sounds god-damn familiar to me.

It'll be rubbish unless you can design / build and kit out your own vehicles from scratch. Needs to be like Chromehounds in that respect. That would rock.

IS this the start of a post apocalyptic boom?

If you can read this you really need to fiddle with your forum settings.

The weapons and vehicle add-ons are procedurally generated, stat-wise. So no two players will end up with exactly the same load-out. It's the game's biggest draw for me, besides the 4-player co-op.

Cheers for this w00t, pretty cool trailer. Been looking forward to this since I saw it announced on EG a while back.

4 player co-op sci-fi RPG with guns, buggies and monsters...

    Indeed!

This does sound pretty tasty. I'm a bitch for "RPG elements".

    Hopefully

    a) It will have a decent core storyline as well as sandbox action

    b) It will have local multiplayer as well as over live.

    Aye, looks nice.

I haven't really kept an eye on it. When is it out? I'll probably take more of an interest in it closer to it's release.

I'm happy to have seen gameplay of that, having been intrigued by the previous CG trailer that was released. An HD version of that would be great, to see it more clearly. Information remains scarce on this, to give people something to enable them to build up a picture of what the final game will be all about. It's a bit early to be hugely excited, but it's looking like a really promising prospect, for 2009.

    Borderlands IS THE GOOD FALLOUT.

It looks bloody great. Way better than Fallout. Way better than Stalker. Way better than Mass Effect (comparison since this is a bit of a rpg now).

    Thanks, Disc!

About the only thing I previously knew about Bordelands was from some vague trailer I downloaded but now it's very high on my 'most wanted' list.

It looks good, but I'd still say I prefer the look of Fallout.

The weapon's bob looks a bit over the top and annoying.

Looks like the character has jelly for arms.

It could turn out well and I hope it does, I just wish they'd ditch the moronic "bazillion" different guns stuff as it's daft.

Why is it daft? It seems like a relatively simple thing to implement that I'm surprised no one has done before, but which could really improve the loot aspect of an RPG like this.

As long as there enough different components and variations of augmentations I think it promises to be a really cool feature.

Because the guns aren't really going to be all that different from each other and is 600,000 guns with pseudo-random changes made to them better than having a couple of dozen guns that are modelled to actually be different from each other.

To make 600K working weapons the differences are going to be mostly cosmetic and therefore pretty pointless.

Yeah would also be nice if some of the weapon differences are functionally almost irrelevant, but allow you an aesthetic influence over your hardware.

Looks like what the shooting aspect of Hellgate should have been, and so looks absolutely fantastic. This encompasses everything I want in a shooter from what that trailer shows. RPG elements, and awesome loot.

Should shown it on PC though :p

    That really wasn't what I was expecting at all. A quest-based open-world first-person RPG shooter? The mind-boggles.

You really should read some PC magazines some time Blerk, it's not news! :-)

I hope there's some elements like the very old Autoduel game in there, there's not enough Car Wars in gaming for my liking.

That's what's appealling about it to me. FPS that are /just/ blasting away don't do it for me anymore.
