Anyone got any experience of a decent pair of surround sound headphones that work for 360?

The Tritton AX360 looks quite nice, but I'm having difficulty locating a pair in the UK.

    Review of them here:

I have a very similar pair but with a different name. Ah, here they are.

They worked well but had some faint digital bleeps in the background all the time.

If you can read this you really need to fiddle with your forum settings.

Aye, I've got the same, they're ace. The only time I've experienced the odd beep is with badly sourced rips.

    Recommended.

The Sharkoon ones are ace, can't speak for the Tritton ones, although they're probably very similar.

As with all surround headphones though, as good and effective as they are, don't expect the complete cinema experience stuck to your heed!!

That is EXACTLY what I am expecting though!

Actually those look exactly like the Tritton one's

ok, i just pasted a big rant as to why you shouldn't buy these headphones, then binned it coz it when on a bit to much. then i read the review and felt like i should say something at least coz they are expensive and peeps should not be ripped off by products that don't do what it say on da tin!!

if you want true 5.1 surround sound, don't by headphones as you will never get surround sound with simple L + R placement of speakers even if it has actual optical connections and the ability to play each channel of the surround sound coded signal.

people can spend megabucks on pro surround sound equipment, why would a pair of £120 cans ever have the technology to do the job its is saying "TRUE 5.1 SURROUND SOUND"

the most important bit of the review -

"Documentation and support 7.1 - Donít count on the instructions to help you much with initial setup. Time delay instructions will seem confusing to most. "

better buy a good pair of stereo cans instead

Sorry for nopt replying. It was original games. Gears and Dead Rising. It was just a faint "bleep blipp blopp" going on way back in the background. Only noticable in quiet parts like loadscreens and menues so no deal breaker.

My friend had the same problem so it's not just my pair.

If you can read this you really need to fiddle with your forum settings.

My Sharkon X-Tatic 5.1's do the same thing when connected to either the 360 or the PC.
Oddly though, they are absolutely fine when connected to the PS2, so it could just be something to do with the audio source.

Personally I dont think 5.1 headphones are -that- great. The 3D sound placement isnt much better than what you can get out of a well mixed stereo track (and its definately not better than holographic sound by any means) and the center speakers can make dialogue sound tinny.
The Bass vibration is good though.

The reviews all seem to mention that 3D sound placement improved dramatically after boosting the delay and volume.

I'm very keen to get a discreet surround sound system, and this seems the ideal solution, as it can be put away simply.

    Am I overlooking other alternatives?

Wow, these look ideal. Now all I need are some luminous table tennis bats, and I can get that damned police helicopter down.

OK, a little more expensive (just a bit!) but everything I've read about them sounds well impressive!

    Yamaha YSP

Yeah, I have the baby brother at home (the 800?). It's a great bit of kit, of *course* not quite the same as a proper wired surround sound speaker system, but at the same time amazing in what it does, and in the way I don't have speakers and cables everywhere now o/

Is it purely the wife factor that sells these things then? I saw on Gizmodo that they're releasing the 4000 shortly

Sorry for being thick but how you supposed to use the live headset with these?
You talking about the headphones? If so, it becomes the Live headset (has mic included). That's the beauty of it.

If you're not, I dunno what you are talking about.

This would feel dead uncomfortable strapped to my head.
Think I'll stick with the headphones.
