In other news, kickboxing wasn't on last night because of the snow but my teacher convinced me to go to a body sparring class with bunch of amateur boxers. He said it would tell them I was just starting out so they would go easy. The instant I walked in and seen the fucking knuckle scrapers I realised I'd made a terrible mistake. I can honestly say it was possibly the worst hour of my life, I got absolutely kicked to fuck. I've only sparred maybe 20 rounds in kickboxing, and I'm shit enough at that, but these fuckers were going for full power rib shots which I had no idea how to defend against properly. I wanted my mum. My sides are completely fucked today.

Good session set some new PRs. Did a finisher with a complex routine, 40kg barbell then a circuit of bent over rows, power cleans, front squats, overhead press, back squat and good mornings. 4 reps each exercise 1st & 2nd set 6 reps each exercise on 3rd set. Heart and lungs get hell of a workout as well.

Thought I'd share a little something with you guys.

I started a triathlon swimming class at my gym this time last year when I was fairly out of shape, had a slightly flabby tummy, strong-ish legs (as I run every now and again) and weak arms. The class is one non-stop hour long.

A year later, even after being a hog at Christmas, my fitness has not only dramatically improved, but the shape of my body is startlingly different; broader shoulders, flat tummy and all-round strength in my arms and legs.

Quite comfortably do 50 meters in a shy over thirty seconds too.

    Moral of my words?

    Go swimming...!

Swimming is indeed awesome. Just make sure you have a proper stroke if you're going to do it for any length of time.

If you find swimming dull, imagine your putting your face through a stargate when you put it in the water...and pretend your flying when you push off.

    What?

My heart will probably have a different kind of stroke in mind. Can understand all the benefits of swimming, just never been great at it. Local gym I use has a swimming pool so I better make use of it

If shit at it and constantly get injured because of it but that's why my new years resolution is to sort out my technique.

You just need to start slowly.

Is my gym the only place where some men wear Croc shoes to work out in. Or is this a country wide fad?
