They will do the blue-shell like Mario Kart 7 though, far better than it going through the air.

    Yeah true.

Perhaps they'll also amaze us with an option to customise private races, where you can do RADICAL stuff like turn certain items on/off.

Pretty high-tech stuff I know, but technology is advancing fast these days.

    - Gamepad screen can be toggled between a course map and rear view mirror. Sigh.

A rear view mirror which you can also use to aim items behind you would actually be quite good.

    Predictions for Kart U:

    - sloppy online implementation
    - lack of customisation (in terms of courses, items, private races, etc)
    - lack of downloadable tracks
    - Blue shell
Those are the bare minimum of my low expectations. I also hope they continue to disallow changing characters or vehicles between races, instead forcing you to quit, change and attempt to re-join, knowing that really you'll be stuck staring at spinning globes for an hour.

Hopefully they save time and just build the OEM directly into XBOX Live Party chat to allow you to communicate with your friends whilst playing.

If there aren't spinning globes, I'm not buying.

Fuck's sake, I wish they'd stop making me want these things.

My hand is hovering over the pre-order button. Arrgh!

That's 62.50 that could go towards all those great 3DS or WiiU games. Or, if you somehow can't find anything worth buying, a shed load of quality ale, a much more worthwhile investment.

I didn't buy a ticket. Couldn't justify it at 60. If the cheap seats were available then I would've. I did manage to get Louis C.K. tickets who I can't wait to go see.

Battersea Beer Festival was poor. None of your suggestions were available. Only had 3 beers but they were quite tasty.

Mario is looking different these days.

You went to a beer festival and had 3 ales? I hope they were gallon glasses. Thwarted again with the 1872 porter, bad luck. I've finally found a use for Twitter - subscribe to your favourite bars that do a heavy ale rotation, find out what's on and head there before it goes. Had some quality finds that way.

Hope everyone is well? I have new phone; The Sony Xperia Z which is a lovely bit of kit. Very slick, however it's a bit on the large side. Thankfully I have large hands.

Been off the grid for a while, plenty of tedious other things getting in the way of posting about how dreadful the WiiU is and how it's doomed. Thankfully, scores of other people stepped in to fill the void.

How's that Z working out? Contract is up soon and I'm thinking of going for the N4 or whatever replaces it if something is announced this year.

Great compared to my previous phone. Lightning fast and battery life is amazing. The brightness level needs to be put up as even on it's highest setting, the screen looks dimmed.

Sadly I cannot root the phone until someone has a fix for that. Sony seem very good with regards to rooting and unlocking the boatloader. Unfortunately it seems my mobile operator has locked it. Shame as there is a bunch of crap I want to get rid of but can't

The N4 is good too, very light in terms of installed apps which all phones should be. The main concern is there isn't a micro SD slot.

I hear that JK has joined the tablet fraternity. He's out and about on his iPad reading his newspaper. At least that's what my spies tell me.

Got the Mrs an N7 for Xmas, my phone is looking a little primitive in comparison so might have to give her tablet envy when my bonus comes through this month. How far does a fiver stretch these days?

Don't get a Kindle Fire if you are after a tablet. The New Sony one looks good.

Will be sticking with a Nexus most likely. I have no intention of buying any more locked down pieces of crap, the 3DS was bad enough.

So, new Pope was pushed out of the closet about 10 minutes ago. Has a John Terry photoshop made it into the wild yet?

Oi oi. I can vouch for the Nexus - 'nice bit of kit' as people tend to say these days.

Cambridge beer festival again this year, chaps? I think we should.

I'd prefer some sympathy from Gillan instead. Perhaps in a future episode he could go back in time and stop the disaster signings of Corrado Grabbi, Kevin Davies and Barry Ferguson among others. So many others.

Cambridge is tempting again. We just got our passports back after many months of being at the mercy of the Border Agency so somewhere warm is on the cards but will try and avoid 20-25th May. 24th or 25th would appear appropriate.

Oh Mr S, what on Earth is happening at Blackburn? Are they trying the Roman Abramovic method?

They should just get a management team comprising of Sid James, Charles Hawtrey, Jim Dale, Kenneth Williams and be done with it. Prime time Babs Windsor as the fitness coach, consultancy provided by Laurel & Hardy.

Shambles. And you thought the Wii U was bad.

Is that the Friday? Sounds good to me - cheeky half day and an afternoon of beery action.

Ever been on your mobile phone talking to someone and thought 'I prefer talking on my house phone'? Well, now you can have the best of both worlds:

    How very Dom Joly.

In other news: Hello. Ridiculously busy these days, but that's what happens when your parent company decided to outsource half the business to India to save costs and then spends more trying to fix things when little goes right. My intention to take a day for the Cambridge bash is looking increasingly unlikely, although I won't admit defeat just yet.

So busy, I've barely time to catch up with Game of Thrones, but one must make a special effort when there's so much fine flesh on display.

Right-o boys and girls, I've decided to take advantage of the U price dropping through the floor and join good Sir Thing in the barren wastelands of next (last) gen gaming. Got it for about the same price as a couple of pints and a sausage roll in Kensington so it seemed like a good deal. Seemed like.

Once the excitement of firmware updates has abated, I look forward to playing something on it around December. Gorgoroth in MiiVerse? You know it.
