Not really a title screaming out for the HD treatment.

Something like an action movie/nature movie/lots of special effects maybe. -

Registered 7 years agoWe're in the US and my kids are watching Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire HD-DVD right now, ordered from Amazon.co.uk
Blu Ray is strong, but HD-DVD still offers more of what I'm looking for. No HD-DVD region encoding is a nice feature. (Although, admittedly, the exchange rate with the crappy US dollar isn't.)

You know why these new formats are great?
They mean the rest of us who don't really care about higher resolution video can enjoy DVDs (of stuff that probably wouldn't benefit from HD anyway) for an ever-decreasing price.
Call me backward, but I don't understand the appeal. -

I understand the appeal, but also understand why folks aren't going to abandon DVD for quite awhile. It's probably the smartest choice. By the time the market is ready for mass adoption, there will be something better than Blu Ray and HD-DVD anyway, at least that's what I'm figuring. DVD still has a lot of appeal in my household as well.

So only nature and action films should get HD treatment? That's one dead market.morriss wrote:

I have 3 HD-DVD and 3 Blu Rays , I only purchased them to see the difference in quality.
Not a massive leap forward imo, and the prices are putting me off buying them.
Saw March of Penguins in HMV last night on HD-DVD and I would love to see it in HD but not at £26 -
