If you like FPSs, you ought to give Shadowrun a go. Multiplayer only. Very, very well balanced. Great game.

Gears of War is also worth getting. Very tactical; lots of feeling like you're pinned down by the enemy.

www.hatchetjob.com - more than games. "Seemingly trivial, surprisingly deep"

My favourite online games on the 360 are Shadowrun, Rainbow Six Vegas, Gears of War, Command and Conquer 3 and Battlefield 2 (when people still played it). So yeah, any of those.

Shadowrun. Best, most innovating and most capturing online game in years. It's like CS & UT with magic innit.

i was a HUGE CS addict from versions 1-1.6....

Shadowrun looks favourite. but it only got 6.9 on gamespot - hopefully that low score is for the single player.

how hard is it to find players on battlefield?

Shadowrun doesn't have singleplayer and I think the game got panned mostly because of the price. People seem to enjoy it.

It got murdered because a lot of reviews said 'shit SP, great MP' then gave it a low score. Unlike Quake 3 and Unreal, when they said the same thing then gave it a high score.

Bit long, but heres a noice review. http://www.mlgpro.com/?q=node/135979

BF2 is worth avoiding IMO because the chances of you ever seeing a map outside of Deadlypass, Bridgetoofar or Backstap are so low. It's like buying an MP shooter that only has 3 maps.

Yeah, the EG reviewer seemed to have completely missed the point and just followed the mob. The only thing Shadowrun does wrong is the connecting problems (patched pretty soon iirc).

Their argument that the content doesn't match the price doesn't hold up. So many games in a similar class that have the same price and they all got good reviews. Now this wouldn't matter if the game was crap but the game holds it's own against legends such as UT'99 and Q3. It simply pisses all over most multiplayer experiences today.

This game had the potential to be a massive hit but the reviews (all with the same copy & paste argument) seem to have condemned it to a underselling cult classic status.

Oh well. Many of us will still be playing this long after all those 9/10 games of this month have been forgotten.

dude, i think shadowrun is pretty rubbish

i think its last gen and deserves no more than 6/7 out of 10

gears is one of my fav games of all time in single player, but i felt the game performed badly online and was extremely unbalanced

    My recommendations:

    Forza 2
    Splinter Cell

If you dont like the sound of these games, get gears or hold out for halo 3

IMO, if you travel 5 years back in time, eat some everquest and counter strike - the resulting shit will look very similar to the below picture.

GRAW2 is broken online - a complete technical failure.

Shadowrun is fantastic, as others have said.

GLOL. Any form of credibility went out the window with that last line. GoW is a great game but in terms of gameplay depth, this pisses all over gow.

Tell me, why is it 'shit'? What is so last gen about the gameplay?

    dude.

FlatOut UC is a great laugh online. Certainly one of the more enjoyable Live experiences I've had.

Although thats probably because there aren't any yanks on the servers yet.

Heh. I don't want to sound like the mob but most people think that shadowrun is a pleasing experience too because it's mostly europeans. People keep saying that not all americans are like that. And they are most likely right. It's just that all bad americans seem to venture onto live and give the rest a really bad name.

I'm going on past experience. Gears of War and Halo2 public servers have been ruined 95% of the time by whining yanks who either cant understand how you've just killed them and therefore scream that you must be cheating or shout at you when everyone goes off in one direction and they bugger off on their own and get killed.

    call of duty 3.
it's fantastic, what battlefield for consoles should have been. great vehicles and team play.
Plus you can get four mates on the same console and go online with little drop in the frame rate (unlike graw 2) - it's an amazing mp game, the single player however is quite weak.

    You dare to strike Scurrcules!?

still play COD2 a lot, along with Vegas. Personally Gears wasn't for me and COD3 is a pile of poop compared to cod3. must admit, I haven't got round to the GRAW games yet.

GOW was fantastic online back when the EGers were arranging matches. Lots of depth and team play.

In my experience I could not reccomend anyone any XBL game where they are just going to randomly get into matches. Chances are slim that you will have a great game every time, or even a good game.

The real strenth of Live is getting a group of people together all playing the same game that they all enjoy, all have similar abilities, and are all friendly and aimiable. That is far harder to do than just buying a game for a good on-line experience.

Shadowrun would be my choice right now (if I had the time) - and I'd get a few XBL nicks from the EGers here to try and get in a few of their games, rather than chance it with randomly joining lobbies.
