Lose Yourself to Dance won't stop playing in my head.

    Loving the arrangement on Motherboard.

Been listening to the Tron Legacy soundtrack on the way home. It's magnificent.

A couple of tracks wouldn't go amiss on a side-scrolling shooter. They should do the game soundtrack or the new Flashback.

The Resident Evil films. I'm one of the reasons they keep making them.

Didn't get on with the Tron soundtrack.

Two tracks in on Spotify. Give Life Back to Music was solid but not special. Very listenable though.

The Game of Love is raping my ears though.

Quite easily the worse song on their new album along with Touch, which is a very marmite track.

I love Touch (and i hate Marmite).

Current favourite track is Doin' It Right (and I hate Panda Bear, usually..)

Pitchfork's review is up, 8.8 / 10 and a 'Best New Music'. I have to say, that's 1.2 lower than I thought they'd give it.

I thought Game of Love was alright to be honest. Touch is only one I'm not sure about.

All in all it's the Buck Rogers disco scene in full album form, including a few slow numbers for the space laydeez.

I found I couldn't really judge a track in isolation until I'd been through the lot a couple of times. Game of Love now sounds ace to me as I know what's coming and how it fits, same with Touch.

I am almost convinced that Panda Bear's Doin' It Right is my favourite song on the album.

    ... just cannot stop smiling!

Best thing about it is that rather than just being a collection of random tunes, it's a proper album that goes somewhere. Contact is an awesome closer.

Hmm, kind of makes me sad though ...

... with the song being the last one.

    My thoughts thus far...

Give Life Back to Music 6/10
    The Game of Love 2/10
    Giorgio 5/10
    Within 6/10
    Instant Crush 6/10
Lose Yourself to Dance 8/10 (instantly loved that track)
    Touch 5/10 (this may grow)
    Get Lucky 8/10

Had to stop there tonight. Looking forward to finishing it off tomorrow night.

This. It's definitely meant to be listened to as a whole.

Also, 5/10 for Giorgio?? You're doing it wrong..!

It was a bit all over the place for my tastes. May get better with repeated listening, but on first listen it's that for me.
  • Deleted user 20 May 2013 21:35:55
I've listened to this album so many fucking times now. Genius stuff.

In other news, the fifteen minute thing that QOTSA released of 5 songs from their upcoming album is fucking sublime.

Managed to fit the rest in...

    Beyond 6/10
    Motherboard 7/10
    Fragments of Time 7/10
    Doin' it Right 6/10
    Contact Idon'tgetitatall/10

Overall a 7 on first listen as an album. Needs another 2-3 listens, but a solid start. I don't think I'm going to 'get' Contact though.

Just started listening to Tron Legacy: Reconfigured. The first track, Derezzed, is surprisingly good.

Actually four tracks in and they're all great mixes. I thought it would be utter shite. Great album thus far.

I was sceptical about Reconfigured too, but it's a sublime remix album.

    Good grief.

All the eurogamers who actually play with each other on xbl rather than just post pseudointellectual pc handwringing bollocks on the forums, love the shit out of biggy.

The more I listen to this, the more I'm coming to the conclusion that the Pharrell tracks are ace and the rest of it is distinctly average.

I think the disco/funky tunes are the better ones, yes, which surprises me as I don't usually much like disco.

Wouldn't say the rest is average, but what I did notice is that the two weakest songs on the album are the only two that feature no collaborators.

I'd agree, 'Fragments of memories' is pretty good as well.

Second listen and RMA makes much more sense to me today.

The final two tracks (Doin' It Right and Contact) are absolutely brilliant. Strong end to the album to my ears ;)
