Probably been asked a 1000 times before, but does anyone know if USA Xbox 360 games will work in my UK machine?

Are they region coded? I'm dead keen on taking advantage of the dollar rate at the moment! :-)

    Cheers!

I was under the impression it was down to the publisher/developer

    On the most part, no.

I think there's the occasional title that works, though.

Some, but not all. In fact the majority won't.

For a reasonably accurate list of those that will or won't, check here: http://www.play-asia.com/paOS-00-3-xbox360_compatibility_guide-49-en.html

Some do, some don't. I believe that none that are published by Microsoft do.

If you look in specific game threads on here you should find your answer for them. There may be a list on the interweb somewhere.

Edit: I hate people that type fast. :o)

I hate to be even more of a pain (I don't mean it, honest), but Crackdown, Gears, and Viva Pinata are all published by MS. The US versions of which all apparently work on a PAL 360.

Oh, and I don't type fast. I'm just psychic, and did it purely to piss you off ;)

I meant that none of the Microsoft published games are region free.

    (Apart from those that are).

Kinda related... If I bought a US Xbox 360 elite would it work fine with

    a) Xbox live for playing against UK players?

    b) The UK external power supply?

(Unless of course anyone knows when the European launch is, in which case I can just wait..)

You will probably need a power converter to get a US console to work over here as they have less Watts running through their mains than we do.

I have a similar, but different question.

If I were to get hold of a US 120gb hd, would it work on my PAL 360? Has anyone tried this?

The HDD is region free, I imagine.
