You can predict 14 years into the future?!

    Wow. :p

What I think he means is house price inflation.

Easy to say with your 14 year old micro mortgage, when houses could be bought with a bag of shiny pebbles ;-)
What do you think your mortgage will be viewed like in 14 years time the way inflation is going at the moment?
Easy tiger, I was only joshing. I put a winking emoticon on there and everything. ;-)

Hopefully deflation will start increasing and we will level out!

Didn't he try and address demand side too? TO some degree anyway.

Why would you want someone else's bed?
  • Deleted user 5 October 2012 15:00:30
Cause it means one less thing to buy when I move in? I've been living in a rented flat for 2 years.

I've been sleeping in someone else's bed for 2 years.

Christ I dread to think what the contract will be like, yes the mattress, the frame and headboard. Well actually not the headboard.

I wouldn't worry about her race more her promiscuity. Might be time to buy a black light.

    She's a single Indian woman. I don't even think she's British Indian. She doesn't have sex. :)

If she's British Indian then I may burn the mattress :)

I am genuinely itching right now.
  • Deleted user 5 October 2012 15:31:29
Yeah I haven't thought this mattress thing through. I don't think I want it now.

The bed will do though :)

    Congratulations!

Now you have the fun of arranging a mortgage. Still waiting to hear about mine, got a horrible feeling they might put a retention on it :-(
  • Deleted user 10 October 2012 12:57:52
    What's a retention?

Too bloody right minus the bed. Good news though, who's your mortgage provider?

It's where they hold back part of the mortgage until work/repairs they've specified have been completed.

Am hoping they won't but the house doesn't have a firewall on one side of the roof space, so they might well put a retention on for that :-(
  • Deleted user 10 October 2012 13:16:18
Oh that sucks. Can't you get the current owner to lower the price by the retention amount?

Maybe, not sure. Would probably be easier to just get the sellers to put up a firewall.

They might not put a retention on it though, just waiting to find out...

Finally got my mortgage approved - no retention and no required works, hurrah!

Now just need to poke the lawyers to try and get this moving as quickly as possible... would rather like to move in before I'm evicted from my current place!
  • Deleted user 30 October 2012 09:22:04
Congratulations! My valuation has also been approved and with the lawyers.

I don't move in till the end of Feb though :(

End of Feb!? That seems a very long time to wait, are you in a chain then?

Mine's a probate sale so should be pretty quick, fingers crossed anyway.

Now need to arrange a time to go round for another look & to do some serious measuring. Also want to see if they've moved/cleared any of the stuff in the house, am quite tempted to suggest that they can leave it and I'll clear it as I redecorate. Would rather spill paint on someone else's furniture than my own!

Not sure it's always that painful. Without wishing to tempt fate, I'm currently in the process of buying my first house and it seems to be going pretty smoothly so far.

Saw a place I liked a couple of weeks ago and made an offer last week. That was accepted, mortgage sorted (in principle) and lawyers on the case. The estate agents reckoned I could be in there in around three weeks, though that sounds a bit ambitious. I'll be chuffed to be in by Christmas.
