"Right, I've got a choice between picking up a magical axe, an ancient book or a broken and chewed biro. What should I take?" "Take the axe, or maybe the book. Hmm..."

Except in the next room the team would encounter a monster that talks and kills them immediately because they didn't bring his biro back to him, or something.

Knightmare was the business! A mate of mine's just finished working on a CBBC show called Raven, which sorta reminds me of Knightmare, despite the fact it doesn't feature artificially blinded children.

Yeah, Raven always reminded me of Knightmare. I actually thought it was Knightmare's spiritual successor. Do they have anyone in common on the crew?

Treguard came to do Waiting For Godot at my college while I was doing A Levels. I was a huge Knightmare fan way before that but he was rubbish.

Was he as creepy in RL as he was on the telly?

/suspects treguard was a bit of a closet paedo

I used to love this show but then I sorta realised that they didn't actually kill the losers and it kinda lost it's appeal

A link to #1 of a full youtube episode of the first winning team

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=11U20DApGA4&feature=related

I must say I still enjoyed watching this. Its surprisingly tense when you considered how suddenly death would come. I read there was something like 400 shows and only 5 winners.

Loved that programme. That guy out of the league of gentlemen used to play various characters in it

Saw a clip of a team who were right at the end, and they couldn't spell 'Shroud' backwards

They started throwing them way too many bones, the host who was supposed to be unconscious started saying 'O' (the missing letter) as a sort of groan, when they didn't get the hint he starts saying 'the letter.....O'

They let them past the section with a completly mispelt word, usually the show is incredibly brutal with mistakes :p

    :o

I used to love this show! The bit with the maze and the goblins at the beginning was quite nerve racking for a kid. The bit with the dragon flying across the landscape rocked too.

    Is the presenter still alive?

haha I found this linked as a similar video

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VWhLp2Zpn1w

I must have seen about every one of those. Actually its a shame, that pretty much does signify the very end of the era when tv companies would still spend money on children's programming.

/had no friends as kid so relied on tv a lot

That'll be why my 9 yr old asked me if I was alive in the 80s or 90s....or "the olden days" as he refers to them.

This is begging for a web series revival surely?

Source level editor and a green screen would get someone half way there, although I could be talking gubbins as I know next to nothing about video production.

He'd believe it...they have no concept of time, it's all ancient history. Pre-smartphone days are unthinkable, I describe the black and white portable TV we used to have and they think I'm mental.

PM me and let me know what you're up to!

@Kostabi I think Aegis Quest was the closest that something like that has gotten.

The pilot came out a few years ago but since then, the website has been quiet...

I think a bearded man in leather blindfolding children and then shouting instructions at them might be frowned upon these days.

A map is like comparing velocity and speed.

Especially with the title, Dungeon Master.

Give yourself 5 or gig, you're worth it.

I watched the pilot on YouTube last night and that's pretty much what I was imagining so thanks for pointing that out.

Although it made me think how funny/frustrating it would be to instruct a blindfolded person around a Portal level.

I used to love this as a kid although it always seemed so brutally difficult.
Its mad to think that my brother in laws both won when they were on it (and that my father in law wears the winners t-shirt to do the gardening in)
