Preview on IGN. Wonder if they can pull it off, seems like quite a challenge.

Read the preview in Edge today. It does look really good - I especially like the crowd dynamics and the grappling system for picking up chairs, etc.
Does seem very similar to David Braben's new game though: wrongly accused fugitive on the run in DC, etc -

Registered 8 years agoYeah, I just read their (IGN's) coverage - they've now two articles up - but I really like this idea. I had soured on Splinter Cell. Shadows...Hide...Assassinate. Trip Alarm. Swear. A lot. Snooze...
However, with all his goofy gadgets gone (my least favourite part of the whole thing, because accessing them I found arbitrary and complicated) and the removal of failure - again, a nod to recent films - because if something goes awry, I can try a workaround.
Not the idea that: First I go HERE. Right bloody HERE. Not THERE. But HERE. I HATE that mechanical, stunted BS from past games. >
Why am I just kneeling in the shadows waiting? If I want to play like that, I could just buy Sniper Elite, and do away with the whole light/shadow business, altogether!
I have a feeling I and this human, more spontaneous Sam Fisher, will get along quite a lot better.

We're sure there's no ass sniffing or pooping in this one, right?

Registered 9 years agoPlayed Splintercell: Double Agent on Xbox and am currently playing it for 360. It's a much better game on 360.
Splintercell is the first and only game so far that I've genuinely felt a moral dilema in. Frankly that is the only actual emotion I've felt in a computer game regardless of all the claims from dev leads about their games to the contrary. -

Good, I loved Chaos Theory to.
That's fine. This is the team that puts out the good SC games so I'm happy for them to make sure they've got it right.

Everything has gone remarkably quiet on the SC:C front wonder what Ubi are up to? Was also thinking the same about the Riddick remake which i thought was due out last summer?

Last rumour stated SC:C has had to be sent back to the drawing board because it wasn't any fun.

Registered 9 years agoCheers PT - pretty gutted actually as a decent version of Splinter Cell out in June would have lessened by MGS4 induced PS3 envy.
Was really looking forward to a full HD version of Riddick but guess there's always the PC version for that. -

Registered 8 years agoSurely one of the main attactions of Splintercell is the cool gadgets and the trademark night vision goggles, and using them in new and different ways to take down the bad guys.
Removing all that, like what they seem to be doing with Conviction is just taking away what makes splintercell, splintercell!
I'm hoping someone else thought the same, and they have indeed gone back to the drawing board.
I want more chaos theory type action, basically splintercell done right, awesome level design with just the right amount of action. I want More jumping out of the back of stealth choppers into frozen waters to sneak into an enemy base at the dead of night....
....I don't want to be dressed in hobo clothes, getting chased down by 10 cops in some random city, with a chair as my only weapon......i'm not arsed how real it looks when he picks it up and swings it! it still sounds shit!
Riddick canceled to? that it bad news, perhaps not so bad now we at least know that The Darkness 2 is coming!
