    Numbers are so last-gen.

I believe Capcom own the number 5. For the next Resi, like.

Just sounds like crappy EA marketing hype, just look at all the hype we get every year for the next fifa game and it is never what they say.

Unfortunately I get the feeling that the next burnout will start going the way of all EA games and that fills me with so much dread.

Cool, here's hoping it's more of a jump than Revenge was on the 360. And I dunno if anyone will agree with me, but I only have Burnout 1 on the Cube (but have played the new ones on other consoles) and I have to say it's not as tense when you're driving, knowing you can hit cars that are driving the same way as you. I always thought part of the fun was in madly dodging the busy traffic as you scream down a highway. It's till fun though, don't get me wrong :)

And where exactly does it say number '4' on the Burnout: Revenge box?

You're so old, you're the second less funny grandad in Only Fools and Horses, Blerk.
Tut tut. EA/Criterion themselves have been referring to it as "Burnout 5" up 'til now, Rodney.

Not worried about the "purity" of the game when it comes to a huge free roaming city, more worried about the framerates.

If this is anything less than blisteringly fast a la Burnout Revenge, it's going to completely ruin it.

Looks nice. It''ll have to be something pretty amazing to get me interested again. Played Takedown to death but Revenge bored me to death.

Agreed, does anyone else just feel like they are heading in the wrong directions a little?

    Perhaps a little midnight cluby....

Word of advice - pick up Burnout Dominator if you've got a PS2. I managed to get it quite cheap recently and it's really good - it's got the playability (and "bad" traffic), actual Burnouts and wide drift courses of Burnout 2 but using the shiny Revenge graphics. There's no Crash mode but the racing/eliminator/Road Rage (and new Maniac) modes are brilliant. Your heart really starts pounding when you start trying to make big Burnout link chains...

Criterion are a technical company, it'll run fast guaranteed.

I'm worried about the free roaming though, I don't think it works with a Burnout style game. Revenge was the peak for me, I'm not interested in this one.

I think we need more Burnout games, three a year on each platform just isn't enough.

I know I know, noone forces me to buy them, I just wish the obviously great developer (is it still the same team?) would do something new instead of Burnout sequel after Burnout sequel after Burnout sequel...
