Looking about on ebay I've seen some games which surprisingly fetch high prices now. Here are a few I've seen:

Castlevania: Symphony of the Night(PS)- Prices seem to range from 30-99.

    Rez(Dreamcast): Around 40

    Shenmue 2(Dreamcast): 20 quid

    Mario Kart(N64): ~ 10 quid

Final Fantasy Tactics(PS): Seen go for 40 quid once.

As well as games that fetch high prices, I've also seen games that are surprisingly indemand.

Crash Bandicoot1-3(PS), always get bids on them and go up to around 5 pounds. I've seen someone trading them as well even.

Super Mario(N64)- another one always gets a few bids on them

Zelda(N64): Majorcas Mask I've seen go for about a tenner, Ocarina of time is demanded.

Other games which attract high prices or any relevant discussion welcomed

    Don't be like that Lutz.
t's an interesting thread idea. Admittedly a discussion point is needed though.

Steel Batallion with the controller is pretty pricy too.

That's what I was getting at. I mean, are we comparing here? (Well I've sold so-and-so for X amount) or are we adding (like Kalel) or what?

Just seemed a bit... erm... odd.

Stuff sells on ebay at the the price that the general market is willing to pay. Simple really. Rare, coveted stuff will sell for more.

Nah, it's plummeted now. I'm waiting for it to go back up again before I sell mine.

I don't think US versions fetch too much, reason being it was re-released at a budget price over there and was relatively easy to come by. At least that was the case a few years back when I was looking for a EU version.

Yeah, PAL version all the way, and it has to have the soundtrack CD or whatever it was that came with it. Same goes for Panzer Dragoon Saga, it's the PAL version that is rare.

Sorry thought people would work out the discussion point, I'll add it in. But what I was wondering is other games which fetch high prices on ebay.

Bishi Bashi Special for the PSX is going for 24.99. I still have that!
I don't think I could bring myself to part with it though, I LOVED that game!

Silent Hill Collection brand new and sealed goes for 80 I think or thereabouts.
I may be missing something but if there is such a demand why don't Konami release some more?

/Polishes mint copy of UK Panzer Dragoon Saga

I've also got Terranigma on the SNES, which at one point apparently was fetching a decent amount (30-40 quid or so) on ebay. Didn't realise DC Rez was fetching decent prices these days though.

I've still yet to see prices reach a point to make me want to part with any of them though.

See, this is the problem with all my rare stuff that I own, the more valuable it is, the more I cherish it even more. The only circumstance under which I'd part with something, is if it was shit AND valuable, which rarely happens, but if Steel Battalian ever gets pricey again I will part with it as it's a big fat waste of space now.

As for the rest, especially my valuable comics, there is zero chance of me selling them. I guess they'll be an investment for my kids/grandkids when I pop my clogs...
  • Deleted user 26 April 2007 18:06:15
Yeah, that's definitely the problem - it's the rare classics that fetch the highest prices most of the time, and if they're classics you're much more likely to want to always hold onto them. Ho hum.

I got 55 for an unsealed, damaged copy of Twilight Princess for the Cube back in December, just before Christmas. Everyone was panicking about there being no stock anywhere at the time, so I guess that's why. I got a brand new copy from GAME for 29.99 a month later.

A boxed copy of Chrono Trigger is usually worth a fair amount.

Sold my original (with art cards) copy of ICO for about 50 a while ago. They now sell for about 15. Suppose it's just knowing when to sell...

Feel free to berate me as much as you like, but eBay enabled me to acquire the following games:

Chrono Trigger (mint) - $100AUD (that's aussie bucks)
Super Mario RPG (no manual, damaged box) - $100AUD
    Final Fantasy Tactics - $90AUD
    Valkyrie Profile & Tactics Ogre - $100AUD
    Radiant Silvergun - $300AUD (!!!)

People may think I'm mental for paying that much for certain games but I look at it like this: Games in Australia retail for around $100 anyway. Paying two or even three times for a brilliant game, which is steeped in history and the peak of its genre, means nothing to me.

    Final Fantasy Tactics - $90AUD
they released that in Australia but not Europe! By the way agree your perspective, I'm buying Shenmue 2 shortly which I see as a good price at 19.00 almost the price of a new game.

    NASCAR Racing 2003.

One of the few games I've seen consistently sell for a high price.

PSone Suikoden & Vandal Hearts, also Kula World which is a real bummer as I must have traded that in for pennies back in the day :-(

Had the opportunity to pick up SotN with the soundtrack CD for 15 in GAME once, but didn't :-(
