Nice quick and easy questions -

I see it takes 2 AA batteries, but how long do they last and is there any indication when they're running low?

Yup, when you start the remote up the four lights flash - this goes down to 3, 2 and then 1 as the batteries die out. It's also visible on the Home Button menu when you press that.

As for duration... not long enough, but long enough. If you know what I mean. Seeing as I use rechargables it doesn't really make any difference to me.

I've found that good quality Duracell batteries last an absolute age for me. I stocked up on them at Christmas due to the vast amount of BOGOFs going around and I don't expect I'll need to invest in a charging station anytime soon.

I bought cheap batteries from poundland :)

They were 18 for 1 so were obviously rubbish and only lasted a few hours each.

Still not bad for a pound though.

They'll last forever so long as Nintendo continue releasing no games for the thing.

One thing which happened to me was the batteries ran down while I wasn't even using the thing. Had a fresh pair in my second Wiimote, played for about 20 minutes then put it in the draw, when I got it out a month later the batteries had gone flat :p maybe I had something on top of the A button so it was on the whole time, but I doubt it.

Also depends on if your using the remote speaker, rumble and if your playing games that use the nunchuck.

rumble on, speaker off, no nunchuck (excite truck for example) FTW!

You can adjust its volume when pressing the home button.

I use Duracell rechargeables too and they last almost 100 hours. They were quite expensive but totally worth it.

2500 mAh or even 2800mAh if I am not mistaken.

    Forever? I seriously doubt that.

I haven't played on my Wii for 6 weeks, and the batteries drained themselves. I went to play last night, and they were dead.

Maybe they ran out just at the end of your last time playing? I mean, 6 weeks is a long time to remember stuff.

The batteries do drain over time. I put a fresh set of rechargeables in, used them for 3-5 hours and left it for a couple of weeks whilst playing worms on XBLA.

The batteries were drained when I went back to them and I know that none of the buttons were held down in this time.

I have 2 brands of rechargeables. Kodak and Powercell. The Kodak batteries are incredibly good. They last 30-50% longer than the powercells. The powercells came with my battery recharger.

Duracell ultras will last a very long time in the controller but over time the rechargeables will work out cheaper. I recharged a lot of batteries for Twilight Princess.

My powercells get about 10 hours.
