    Got mine in the end.

I had three pages open all refreshing the seetickets.com site. Originally I was just hitting F5, but then I noticed that the pages were redirecting to busy.seetickets.com, therefore refreshing that. What I did in the end was to stick 'Glastonbury seetickets' into Google, then continually click on the top link from there. Worked for me after about ten minutes (though truth be told have been trying since half eight).

    Good luck!

Why can't these people buy some decent webservers? I've been staring at a "this connection has timed out" screen for *two hours* now.

    Good man!

Perhaps we should organise a WoW gathering? :-)

I think I spoke too soon, got to the end of the form to be told not enough tickets for 4 people, looks like they are nearly gone :(

Got mine in the end. I was getting nowhere, but an incredibly lucky friend who has gone for every year since 98 was getting tickets for everyone who wanted them.

Still won't be happy til' I see the beautiful confirmation email though!

And it now says they are sold out. Looks like it will have to be next year for me.

They go on sale again later in the month. With surplus and returned tickets from people who cannot go.

Will have to keep my eye out for that then, not holding out much hope of getting a ticket though.

Got mine earlier. It took over an hour of hammering their servers from several tabs, but I got there in the end. I haven't received a confirmation, which is worrying and the guy I have to collect them from, Shepton Mallet, sounds dodgy.

Anyone been trying to get tickets for 2009 this morning? Absolutely no joy so far - got part way through ordering on several occasions but never got to the payment page, it'd just sit there with a 'server is busy' message. Gah. And for the past hour or so I haven't even been able to get to the first ordering page.

These things are a fecking joke.

I'm sure I read somewhere that ticket sales were being suspended for this weekend while they work through the load they already have.

They are basically trying a new system where they sell tickets for a week or two, then take them off, then put them back on again and so on...

At the end of the day, nothing they ever do will work correctly until the give up and sell their souls to the big ticket distributors.

    Where did you read that?

Fecking typical - I spend three hours trying to get tickets and then a mate rolls out of bed at 11.30, goes online, and buys them almost immediately. :/ Still, he had the decency to get me one as well so no complaints here.

    Sold out!
  • Deleted user 5 October 2008 15:34:51
You sure? Still seems to be possible to get to the booking page (which I note loads straight away now without all the 'busy' nonsense from earlier).

Edit: Yep, tickets still available - this from the official site:

The first round of ticket sales for 2009 got off to a healthy start, and is expected to carry on into the evening. Booking lines opened at 9am this morning and over half of the tickets have already been sold. For the first half hour or so there was the inevitable bottleneck as everyone wanted to be first to get their tickets, but people are now getting through thick and fast. There are still some tickets available but they’re selling well. After this first round of sales, the remainder of tickets will be offered on the 5th April 2009.

Ho hum. Glad I sat there with crippling stomach ache refreshing the page over and over for three hours this morning. :/

Good luck to anyone trying this morning.

I know. With smaller festivals it's about helping them to stay afloat admin-wise during the year, but you tend to get an earlybird discount in return. This is all about the interest and softening the blow of the full ticket price next year.

It's probably also something to do with cashflow as they'll have to be paying the acts over the course of the year. Glastonbury doesn't take much of a profit I don't think. It's lost money a few times lately. Nice to see the site crash half an hour before it's even started.

And predictably the ticket site has fallen over.

This is going to be a very long morning. I'm too sleepy for this. Got in from Radiohead at 2 this morning, now up to spend 8 hours trying to buy what is hopefully a ticket to see them again.

    Sigh.

Seetickets are pants. It's not like they don't know what demand there will be.

They are limiting connections to try to cope, so keep trying. There is a phone number too.
