I'd like to be able to raise the IQ of the average EG poster through genetic manipulation.

"I'd like to be able to fire a rocket up in to space"

+1, but piloting it. perhaps an aspect of the game would be to earn enough cash to buy rocket parts or summat. being able to place rocket into orbit and admire the view would be awesome, as well as seemlessly piloting back down to earth. Wont mind at all if this is limited to certain fixed landing locations.

Would also like to be able to fire dogs into space, and be able to shoot dogs too cos they really frickin annoy me with their brainless craving for attention!

Would also like to see more 'intelligence' with the emergency services, so when you do a paramedics or firefighter mission, cops know you are anb ambulance and leave you alone instead of pulling you out of driving cab on level frickin 11!

Missions or side missions that start through conversation with peds on a 'random' basis.

better and non repetitive scripting of peds and more dialogue 'options' for the main character.

I also respectfully think that it would do no harm for Rockstar to look at Scarface for gunfightage and the random gang fight mechanics n that.

    Better weather.

Snow (that settles), puddles, flash floods, hurricanes/tornados, all this having an effect on the environment.

    That is actually...a great...idea!

edit: or at least a Cable Guy-esque visit to a mock medieval fast food joint where you can duel to the death with big swords and clubs and (oh god no, that sounds like World of Warcraft).

Less Homeys and more Wiseguys. Complete with some torture, maybe the option to go Joe Pesci on someone.

    Gouging out eyes ftw.

    I'm a grumpy bastard.

I'd actually like to see it take a step towards realism and attempt to simulate real crime in a real city. They've done the unrealistic side to the death, and Crackdown sounds like it's taken that a step forward (though I've not played it). So a bit more of a grown up game would push the series in a new direction.

Of course, this isn't going to happen and I suppose it's not what GTA is all about.

I'd like to see aiming that actually works.

And a way around the whole 'half an hour to prep for the mission, do mission, fail mission, half an hour to prep for the mission' thing.

And mail-order weapons, delivered to my digs (see above).

And a semi-random mission generator, so that people don't always ask you to do the same thing if you go back to repeat a failed mission.

With respect, that's the Worst Idea Ever.

It's already 'realistic' enough to be a Murder Simulator.

Exactly. It's the reason I haven't finished a single one of them. Show-stopping flaw for me, my life is too short for that. And the ridiculous thing is that Rockstar is obviously aware of it, as the half-arsed implementation of a better system in SA demonstrates. Emphasis on "half-arsed", though.

I'd like to see aiming that actually works.

You need a PC for this. ;)

I was thinking about what it was set in the Wild West - but thats been done in Gun.
Or England - done in The Getaway.
So what about if it was set in 1940s America with gangsters with tommyguns! The Godfather - bugger!
    Future? Crakdown.
    School? Bully.
    Erm...

More empahsis on the driving and less on the shooting, and a bit more imaginaton in those missions as well. It needs to go back to basics a bit for me, try and recapture that feeling of freedom without the size being intimidating. Need to bring the fun back.

Well, it's not really is it? You can run around for ages murdering and pretty much get away with it. Is that what happens in real life?

Edit: My point is, it would be better if the murdering had a point to it (like actual crime) rather than just battering pedestrians indiscriminately.

I've tried to play GTA once, and didn't much like it all, but I think I got a feel for what it's supposed to be about, and so I can offer up my two cents: In my opinion, GTA should try to be more like Deus Ex in design.
