Registered 10 years agoIs this not like the N64, where they stopped production of the machines but had a stockpile that whould last them for another year at least.
I also seem to rember reading that they only recenly stopped production of the NES -

My thoughts exactly. If it wasn't for Twilight Princess, this thread would have been added about 2 years ago.

Great console while it lasted though. -

I'm waiting for the forum's top wit to waltz in and point out that they're just using the same old GameCube production lines to make Wii's.
BECAUSE THE WII IS JUST A GAMECUBE - DO YOU GET IT?

Mine still works too. And so it should, given that I've hardly ever used it!

Registered 11 years agoThat's a bit lucky.
Got mine at launch (Purple FTW!) and it has done a sterling job. Such good games on that system and BC is so superb on the Wii I can continue to play 'em.

Yes, but they moved it to Wii because they want you to buy their new console. And they hate you.
Wasn't the new paper mario going to come out on the gamecube? -

Registered 7 years agoSo the end has finally come for the Cube. It's a pity, I really liked it. Knowing Nintendo's previous hardware at least it should continue to work for the foreseeable future.
I never did get much use out of the Gameboy Player adapter though.
Well, at least we can still play our Cube games on the Wii. Well, I would if I didn't have a US Cube and games and a UK Wii. Damn region protection. At least Freeloader works on the Wii. -

Got a black one at launch, and although the actual console's packed away the games and controllers are still in use. In fact, there's a good number of classics I've missed out on that I'm planning to play this year on the Wii.
Great console, though. Metroid Prime and Resident Evil 4 were bona-fide classics. And maybe Twilight Princess, too.

Registered 11 years agoAnimal Crossing. Excellent game, shite swapsie code implementation.
Suuuuuuuuuper Mario Sunshine. Still like it.
Fire Emblem. It's on a grid, but the intro cutscene still gets me every time. Just lovely.
Tales of Symphonia. Apparently great, I've given it about an hour.
SW: Rogue SquadronII. Launch game and still looking bloody nice to this day. Played it yesterday and I still suck on the trench run.
Wind Waker. Just beautiful; I love the colour.
Zelda : 4 Swords. Classic Zelda with a bit of WW design into the mix. Never did play it 4-player, mind.
Lots more besides! -

Registered 7 years agoPity the poor Cube, it never got a decent fighting chance due to Nintendo screw ups.
I'm actually buying more Gamecube software recently than I have for years. Plenty of interesting and cheap NTSC J imports about at the moment.
I just got Giftpia, a fantastic little game. Pity about the language barrier, its just as charming as Chibi Robo. Lots of hate to Nintendo for being imbeciles and not releasing a decent platform exclusive game in the States or Europe when the Gamecube was so software starved.

Registered 10 years agoNinty didn't seem to like the cube much even though it's my favourite of the current gen, i had so much fun with it.
Great times.
Nintendo apathy killed the cube.
Aso, don't allow work colleagues to play with your wireless keyboard as they type crap and then post it.

Registered 10 years agoThe Gamecube sold 34,000 units in North America in January; not bad for a dead console, the Cube's rival the Xbox sold zilch.
I've still got 2 Cube's a Panasonic Q and 145 games Jap/NTSC and PAL.NNID Sid-Nice
