I loooove the visuals to this game.

That's one to add to my list of 'must buys'...

Some guy has a blog where he answers questions about Super Paper Mario. Some of the first questions and linkage to his blog are here. Most interesting bits seem to be, it took him 27 hours to beat it, though he says he missed out lots of stuff, and it is mostly a platformer with RPG elements, citing real-time combat rather than pop-out menus.

I was hoping for a proper Paper Mario. But this looks like too much fun to miss out on. And just because the platforming bits in PMatTYD wasn't all that doesn't mean that they haven't worked on them.

So I guess more Mario Adventure rather than Mario RPG.

Though to be honest I'll care more about the script than the finer aspects of the gameplay.

US box art that doesn't make you want to poke your eyes out with a wand? What is the world coming to?

Couldn't disagree more. I loved the battles in PMatTYD (what is the correct initialism for it?). I loved everything about it. I loved it so much that I bought ToS.

The battles in the Mario & Luigi RPGs were never boring. By the time you had mastered a particular enemy you always had something new to face.

That's a horrible box mate. I think your critical faculties must be slipping.

The first one is better. Second one's a bit bland and simple.

I'm with Tonka on this one. That game made me be able to play turn based games. True story.

I'm presuming that with the Paper Mario thing they'll be able to add it more exploration and puzzle solving stuff on top of the platformer parts. I'm just praying that they haven't thrown out the story aspect of the series with the RPG elements. Because if we've got a 2D traditional Mario platforming mixed in with puzzle solving, exploration, collectable stuff, RPG level moves/items AND a typically fantastic Paper Mario script then.... well... it'd be great... and all that.

Certainly looks like I'll be getting myself a Wii in the next couple of three weeks. Sonic, this and the reduction in price online of Japanese consoles has done it for me.
