Little plug for my mate's band Three Kings High, who will incidentally be supporting Pharcyde at the Bristol show if you're around those parts.

They've just been signed and have got a really nice things going - kind of live funk band hip hop fusion thing. Quite cool.

This has sat on my phone since you posted this and I finally got round to listening to it.

It's great. Less funk band than I was expecting & more funky indie band but that gives them a nicely different vibe.

Will definitely keep an eye on them in the future.

Yeah, some of it is quite indie sounding, other bits more funky. Just quite fresh really. Glad you like it.

The two singers/rappers have got a more straight-up rap album on iTunes as well, which is also good. Chattabox and Samuel Otis - Hard Graft.

Dj Premier on Hot 97 at some point in the mid nineties. Terrible quality but I've got total flashbacks to taping shows off the radio in my teens :)

Following on from seeing the Pharcyde the other week, just thought I'd throw in some links from the Fatlip album. This sunk like a stone for some reason when it came out, but it's a real slept-on gem imo. One for fans of Blackalicious and J5 and that kind of thing, it's all big bouncy happy beats and laid back fun lyrics. A really strong album:

I missed Skelethon (Aesop Rock) when it was released, turns out it's one of the best albums I never heard last year.

("down from a huntable surplus to one". the second verse of this is unreal..)

He also has a new album out in a month or so as The Uncluded, a band he has formed with with Kimya Dawson (from The Mouldy Peaches).

It's not going to be for everyone but I'm looking forward to it.

I love the track on Skelethon with her doing the chorus and that track is decent. I'll add it to the list.

    NEW ASPECTS!!! \o/

First release from the new album. Slightly odd choice for a first single imo, but I like it. Produced by Deed of Parlour Talk fame.

Wasn't a huge fan of the album, but What's Up Fatlip remains one of my favourite tracks. Especially with the video. :)

Nice. Been looking forward to that album for a good while now.

Stumbled on a few video's I enjoyed today whilst avoiding thinking about the football over lunch:

    Context - 1.4 at 12
IBE & Benzilla - Bottomless Bottom
    Bambu - Lean
    BdotCroc - Pressure
    Dream Mclean - Sloe Gin

Probably not to anyone's taste in here (or mine, really), but it sounds like Lil Wayne might be on his way out after suffering seizures.

@Tom_Servo Just read about that now. Scary stuff. Not a fan of his by any means but sounds like a very sad situation.

Not a fan of most of the announced line-up but are any of you going to Wireless?

ATCQ, Kendrick Lamar, Nas etc. Well Jay Z and Justin Timberlake are headlining but I'm not fussed about them.

Kendrick would be worth going for as well as Nas. Tickets were too much for my liking.

Can any of you recommend that Ice T directed documentary 'Something from Nothing: The Art of Rap'? I fancy a music documentary, last one I had was the ATCQ one.

Any other music documentary recommendations would be cool too.
