One of those bands I've meant to check out. The dude's always entertaining when I hear him guest on other artist's stuff.
Album's good. Bit different, but good.

    @kalel

Already got that particular Tribe one on there. Pharcyde: I've got Runnin' instead of Passing Me By.

    Thanks for the tips though!

    Included any British rap?

Money Mad or How's Life In London by London Posse or Witness by Roots Manuva.

Hip Hop by Dead Prez would be pretty essential too I'd say.

Can anyone think of any good introductory tracks to the genre for inclusion? I might have missed some obvious ones.
You would have to have something by Eric B and Rakim, I would say Microphone Fiend, Don't Sweat The Technique, or I Know You Got Soul

Times Up by OC is, I think, my all time favourite hip hop track

The whole album is pretty good.

It's loosely a hip hop tribute to Hunter S. Thompson.

Stef has hit his kidney operation charity target with 117days to go, fantastic news. The new POS album is fucking incredible, rap album of the year in a year that El-P and Killer Mike both released absolute classics as well.

Not long got back from a Public Enemy gig. Really enjoyed as it was my first time of getting to see them live because I missed them last time they were in bristol.

I saw Pete Rock & CL Smooth last night, doing their 20 year anniversary tour for Mecca and the Soul Brother. They were fucking awesome. Micall Parknsun was the support act, he was good.

Just an FYI to the UK heads. The Aspects album "Correct English" which has been unobtainable for around a decade now has been re-released and is on itunes. A bonafide classic imo, and possibly the best ever to come out the West.

They were supposed to have a new album just on the horizon last I checked. Not seen anything about it since this vid:

    Wonder if it's still happening.
  • Deleted user 5 November 2012 13:20:20
It's definitely happening. They've just finished recording it and it's out in the new year. They did most of live at See No Evil. There's video on You Tube.

Also the re-release of Correct English has the Talk Force collaboration which wasn't on the original.
  • Deleted user 5 November 2012 13:21:06
The whole reason they've re-released is build up for the new album in fact.

While we are on the subject of middle aged British rappers, I bloody love the new Rodney P & Fallacy tune. It's not going to appeal to some of you guys on here who are just after the old boom bap but it's a huge tune.

I've had Li(f)e on loop over the past few days.

New DJ Yoda is great. Really nice beats and some excellent features - MOP, Greg Nice, Sway, Roots Manuva and er...Boy George...

Also a SEGA tribute track on there. Amazing.

New ESSA EP (aka Yungun) also well worth picking up. Banging track with SkinnyMan and Inspector Deck featuring.

Yeah it's really good. Like a lost golden era Wu record.

He's been knocking around the industry for years and I think this is the first album he's managed to get released.

    Love the new Lushlife video.

Must have taken them forever to make all those.

Seriously can't recommend this album enough.

New Show & AG pre-album mixtape is worth giving a go and free.

Made me less dismissive about the prospect of a new album from them at any rate.
