    The future is sexy.

    Would you? ;0

On a serious note, it makes you wonder whether a hundred years from now what we've seen in Sci Fi will be fully realised.

    + quite a lot really.

Frankly that thing makes a realdoll look quite appealing.

    Er, relatively speaking, you understand.

They forgot to make that one move. I've seen coma patients that are more animated.

And I'm disturbed by it's pokey nipples.

Fuck everything up? Like what? Using abbreviations in the wrong place?

    Oh, that's a burn!

Well to be frank it's an Android if anything. It's movements are hardly fluid though. Reminds me of a certain annoying ride at Disneyland :(

I should probably clarify, the "would you?" was not a serious question. I posted mainly because of the potential it demonstrates for lifelike robots in the future.

We've all seen the robots that can walk and balance realistically, climbing the stairs and whatnot. There's another video linked at the end of this one (which I posted in the funny Youtube videos thread, incidentally) that shows a little robot skate boarding and ice skating. So not only is AI constantly improving but the aesthetics are too. I find it very exciting. The rate of progress is sure to get faster and faster.

The mind boggles at what's to come.

Not really. It will only be uses for the two most basic things - sex and violence.

Sex robots and robot armys here we come!!

Oh, can someone please remember that they will inevitably turn on us, while the rest of us get duped by their loveable lifelikeness?

Hm, how about sexy robot armys? A whole new way of conquering. Seduce into submission.

So you honestly don't find it fascinating? Even if those were the only things. It'd be a huge shame, horribly predictable, but still mightily impressive should robots be created to such a level of sophistication in those fields that they could independently satisfy the desired criteria.

    Would. ;)

Google for Actroid to get a load of videos of the various robots that they do, very nice. Now we need them to do an "Arnie" actroid and Terminator will be on it's way. :)

Check out Roborama.info too, cheers for the thread it's kept me amused this morning.

God, that's so creepy to look at. Way worse than the anime looking woman robot, her movements were too unnatural to really kick off the uncanny valley effect, but that thing! When he kicks it and it recovers... *shivers*

It's like watching one of the undead.
