Dunno where to ask this so here goes...

Anyone got Blokus on PSN? I am trying to find out how the feck you have a 2 player game where you can set the names of both players. You can sign in different characters/profiles to different colours at the start but even though the first 2 profiles are signed in with characters created for each profile, all local multiplayer games consist of profile 1 against a character called 'Steve'. Steve is controlled by the 2nd player, my wife, but she's not very happy as she's not called Steve.

    Please can anyone help?

Avoiding the Heavy Rain thread as trying to duck spoilers.

So how long does it go on for? Just done The Shark. Starting to drag.

There's a spoiler free thread. You should check that one out.

    IIRC you're just over halfway.

You're nearly two thirds of the way through! I seem to remember feeling the same at one point but I'm glad I persevered with it.

You'll do well to avoid spoilers though, good thinking :)

What's the deal with VGA support on the PS3?

My monitor only supports VGA. Kind of a big deal and were I to get a PS3 I'd be reluctant to replace my monitor as I'm very happy with it and would rather not have the hassle of having to sell it.

  • Deleted user 17 January 2011 16:16:36
    Some form of adapter maybe?

It's more the lack of official support that worries me.

So I'd need an HDMI>DVI cable, and then a DVI>VGA cable.

Which wouldn't be cheap I imagine. And how would I get audio running through my amp?

If only this monitor had an HDMI port :/

Sounds like an excuse for a new monitor if you ask me
  • Deleted user 17 January 2011 21:42:54
Yeah, it must be one really old and/or really pikey monitor :D

2009 actually Crispy, and it was bought for (and by) work purposes but since I can work at home I can connect my 360 to it as well.

The thing itself is absolutely great, perfect 1080p picture qualty, it was just cheaper because it only has the one port. At the time I got it that wasn't really a problem.

It's one of the Acer X series LCDs.

Those cables/adapters will be fine though, shouldn't cost too much with an optical as well. My PC is hooked up with DVI>HDMI no probs.

    /Says no more :)

I know it a budget monitor, but are you sure it's only got an Analog connection on it? That's just bizarre.

Yeah it's definitely only got a VGA port.

The monitor just lacks a dedicated DVI port. There's loads of weird free space on the underside of it where extra ports would be.

Am I able to use any USB headset on the ps3?

    Very interesting...

I may well own a PS3 come June.

However this VGA business is a worry. HDMI>DVI>VGA cabling/adapters doesn't guarantee optimum picture quality and/or it working properly, does it?

There are 'proper' unofficial HDMI to VGA cables out there, but the reviews are sparse and the ones that exist are very mixed and suggest that the quality (and whether it'll work at all in the first place) varies depending on your set-up.

Sony supporting VGA output via an update and official cable would solve my issue immediately.

Ok probably a stupid question but is the PS3 Controller charge cable just a normal bog standard usb to mini usb cable, like you get with some mobiles and cameras etc?

I charge mine off my freeview box!

Cheers thought so. So why is the charge cable from these 360 batteries not working when i try it then? It looks like a normal usb to mini cable and fits in't hole? :(

EDIT: Ignore the cable on the second pic from that Amazon page, that's the old style apparently.

Split cable isn't it? May have something to do with it.

Yeah, wonder if it needs both ends connected to work? Though it doesnt when charging from the 360...
