GAME having loads of special edition boxes on show and no codes is not a new thing. They did that to me last year with Far Cry 3. (Although it was half price so did not really mind).

    BUMP.

Adding some balance to the thread GAME have been excellent today for me.

Faulty disc drive on my Xbox One today, rang GAME they gave me a reference ID to quote at any store of my choosing to swap out my faulty unit with a brand new One.

Took all of 2 minutes on the phone.

When I got to the store the chap gave me a brand new bundle box and even included Forza 5 as "an apology for having to come down".

I know they get some shit but really could not fault their service today.

My local Branch (Eastbourne) have been really helpful lately, and any games I have ordered online have arrived next day with their free delivery.

Some of their prices are quite reasonable now too.

Can't complain about the Metro Centre branches. Decent staff. Always give me pre-order DLC even when I don't pre-order. Kind to reply on Twatter too :p

I've always been pretty pleased with my local too, always helpful and I've started getting to know the people who work there now.

They always throw in freebies and stuff that you normally get for pre-ordering (and pay a deposit for) - bottom line is, while the overarching corporation might be the c-word, the people who work in the stores are generally just gamers like us, and most of them are alright people to boot.

it's interesting, i found that a lot of the people working in Game/Gamestation pre-financial-crash often had little knowledge of gaming, now Game tends to have gamers behind the counter. Maybe pre-crash they were better jobs they were smart enough to get, so all the media students ended up in games retail talking total bollox. My nearest Game is in Stockport and they're a decent bunch.

I used to work there from 1997-1999 (before the company changed its name from Electronics Boutique) and the guys I worked with were all gamers. The Stockport store always had a good reputation - with folks travelling to us even when they had closer stores.

Man, I must be the only 30 year old that walks into Game, Preston shopping centre, as I swear they see fear when they see me. Like they're all 18 and they don't know how to react.

My local GAME went the other way, from a shop staffed by people that were clearly gamers to young people that wouldn't even know what this "Crush the Candy" or "Flappy Flappy Bird Bird" are. The selection of games is appalling too, and the prices are almost always RRP at best. The Argos just across from it is superior in almost every way.

That's just the one in my town though, the next closest one isn't too bad.

A friend of mine has ordered Elder Scrolls Online: Imperial Edition on the One on the advice of someone from Game. It'll be "a better online experience" apparently.

Ha, I was asked for ID when trading IN Ass Creed 4 the other day. When i questioned it, thinking it was a new policy, the guy serving me said I looked about the same age as him.

    Being 34 I was rather flattered :)

At least i must fit in!

@beastmaster Not wanting to defend them, it technically it will be as you only have access to that race and additional content with that version.

There are still two GAME in Bristol, just minutes away from one another. I bought a headset for my Wii U from one of them late last year and as I turned away the guy that served me muttered "Good luck finding anybody to talk to" under his breath.

    The cheeky chap! :-P

Still, I tend to avoid buying from GAME if I can.

    @ZuluHero

AS opposed to the PS4 version? I didn't realise that there were exclusive differences between those versions.

I'll be getting it myself. I still suspect it'll be the same disparity between the two versions in terms of resolution.

The Resident Evil films. I'm one of the reasons they keep making them.

I went to buy TLoU new from GAME and the guy pulled out an Ellie edition he had under the desk and offered it to me for twenty five quid. Preowned, and I know they're really hot on pushing preowned rather than new, but I still thought it was a pretty good deal - he could have tried to flog me a standard used copy for the same price as I think they were 25 too at that time.

Have to say I have built up an excellent relationship with my local Game over the last few years. They always give me discounts and advice etc. That plus being on first name terms with most of them makes it worth spending the extra couple of quid here and there.
Trade in prices got better after they almost went under.....

I actually think the worst part of Game sometimes is the other people shopping in there. I overheard a conversation in the Exeter branch once where a woman was trying to buy an Xbox for her husband, and the assistant was selling her some kind of deal which included Arkham City. The woman then said "Batman? No no, it's for a grown man, not a child".

This place was supposed to be a haven from you people!

Do those extra codes actually work, I thought it was one activation per game(card).

If it does, then I might be looking for someone who has pokemon Y for a trade..
