Although they are now dead so it is a moot point, they are probably just repeating something that they had cascaded down to them from on high. It might still be wrong, but the people you just murdered were probably innocent.

    And anyway, I blame Nintendo.

no offence but why should game staff give a monkeys about your savegames?!

Completely justifiable. The only thing you did wrong was not checking if they had kids so you could erase their seed from the world.

In all seriousness I really would've hoped they'd at least know you need both console to transfer. Don't even need a memo, just a single member of staff that realises how backward Nintendo can be. It's not like it's a secret!

Because sales people who are helpful and informative are likely to encourage repeat custom.

@THFourteen Save games I can take or leave, but the stuff I bought from the eShop (admittedly not much, but still) I want to keep, and I think that's fair enough to be honest, and I don't think it's unreasonable to expect a minimum of ONE member of staff working at a dedicated Game store to be aware of the process required.

I personally think a specialist shop should have good knowledge about the items that they're selling.

Wandered into Gamestation briefly today and was hardly impressed at the prices. Many of the preowned games were 35+ and all of the ones I bothered to look at were at least 10 cheaper new elsewhere. For example one game that I was interested in which Shopto and a few other sites are doing for under 13 new was 35 preowned in Gamestation.

I know they need to pay extra costs but surely that kind of difference on second hand items is a little excessive? They hardly had any new games either, and I didn't really notice many recent releases.

That said I ended up in Tesco later and they were charging 27 for preowned DQ9 and 40+ for preowned Mass Effect 3. Blimey.

Gamestation's pricing is utterly rubbish since the financial trouble. You'd have to be insane to pay what they ask.

That was my conclusion really. I'm not sure who, if anyone, buys from them at those prices. I think I'm just going to stick to using any credit I have with them for PSN vouchers.

The prices in my local have gone through the roof since the takeover. They were pretty bad before, but now they're just insulting!

For example - 24.95 for a 'used' copy of Dead Island, when there's a superior Game of the Year edition out now for 20 brand new. Which they don't appear to stock.

45+ for anything releases in the last 12 months, Classics/Platinums at full whack regardless of age... I give them a year, tops.

They were advertising a copy of Lego Star wars complete saga for 19.99, apparently reduced from 39.99.

    It was the classics version.

Has anyone dared preorder with them now anyway? I haven't, not after my Mass Effect 3 preorder was cancelled.

Yeah, every now and then I fancy something new to play but leave there empty handed because the prices are just insane. I would be shocked if they lasted past the january sales.

We might get a closing down sale part 2 then... At least the town nearest me at the moment has a few other games stores to browse around apart from the amusingly priced Gamestation.

That store clerk either has a gift for premonition, Ubisoft have told stores they are intentionally not pressing enough copies for demand, or just utter bullshit plucked out of the air.

Honestly. The constant hounding for pre-orders is getting too much for me. I don't mind using bricks and mortar shops for the odd 2 for 20 deal when I fancy a cheap game or two, but the conversation I had the the other day was ridiculous.

"Do you want to pre order Call of Duty: Black Ops 2?"

"No, I don't like Call of Duty".

"Yeah, me too. But this one is different, it's set in the FUTURE!"

"I don't like Call of Duty".

"and we even have special pre order bonuses".

"I don't like Call of Duty".

"I think this one is going to be really, really good".

"I don't like Call of Duty".

"All I have to do is swipe your Elite card for a pre-order and we'll contact you when your copy is ready to pick up. Should I put you down for one?"

    /facepalm

I've preordered the collector's edition of Darksiders II through them, the only places that were cheaper were already "sold out" and GAME have the extra sidequest missions DLC bonus.

What's your local? I work in a Game store and those prices sound mental, there's not a single mint title, on any format no matter how recent, priced more than 40 in my store, infact a lot of the recent ones are 30-38 quid. :/
And the guy raving about AC 3 might've been on about the LE version, which to be fair do tend to be in short supply, or he might've been talking out of his arse.:)

Anyone had any issues redeeming their reward points on the website? I have a few quids worth but every time I try and use them I get an error stating 'please enter a valid amount to redeem'.
I have tried different amounts but the error persists.

I did email them over two weeks ago to ask what the issue was but the arrogant fucks haven't responded.

Hmm, haven't tried redeeming any online for a while. I was a bit miffed that they failed to honour their 'trade in 4+ current gen games and get a bonus 2000 points' promotion though, despite it being plastered all over their shop. It said the points would be given within two weeks. Harhar.

Game are an amazingly stubborn shop. In the town where I work they originally shut two Game stores and left the Gamestation open. At this point the Gamestation resembled a second hand shop with stupidly high prices. Last week they closed it down and reopened the great big flagship Game store again. It's like the place had simply been mothballed for a few months. Same layout, same stupidly high prices, same annoying policies of staff harrassing you whilst you browse the shop. They are like a wounded animal waiting to die.

I don't understand how a shop that ran itself into the ground can come back and display such unbelievable arrogance.

    Ignoring customer emails is ridiculous.

Bought something from them for the first time in ages and suffered the classic 'brand new game not working due to being left loose in drawer and getting scratched' issue. When I took it back they didn't have another copy so the guy cleaned the disc, which must have amounted to sticking some fluid on it and giving it a quick wipe cos it only took a minute and came back with all the scratches still intact, so guessing they don't use a buffing machine.

Still didn't work (surprise) so had to go back again and pick another game. I can understand needing to have a few non-sealed copies so they can have boxes out on the shelves, but I don't understand why it's such a stretch to get some zip seals and put them in so the discs aren't left to rattle around.

Seems like they've learnt nothing - or the business plan was to just milk some more out of the name, then go bust again.
