Murphy's been so tough this morning, great play in this final frame, really deserves to finish it off now.

There it is! First ever Crucible comeback from 12-7 down in a first to 13. Murphy's got as much chance of winning it as anyone, now.

Two awesome semis, absolutely gutted that Maguire bottled it, had a little bit of money on a Maguire/Selby final before the semis started. :( Still, he played well enough to win and just couldn't handle the pressure, something that we know Higgins will do day in, day out.

The other match was pure tension. The frame where Murphy was 71-0 up and then Selby nearly won after getting the snooker and a free ball!! And when Murphy had an outside chance of coming back from needing five snookers when he managed to get a free ball! Great stuff. How they were both playing well enough to knock in centuries close to the end of the match I don't know.

Chuffed for Selby, I like the way he plays and it's cool to see someone new in the final. Very impressed that he's come through qualifying and his last two grueling matches, but there has to be a chance it's taken too much out of him to beat Higgins, who has looked rock solid so far.

    Go PigBins!
REALLY hope Higgins can manage it. Whatever happens though, this has been the best world champs in the last couple of years, gripping, snooker at its bestest! Bad english, bad drinking by me :)

Yes, the tournament as a whole has been superb, just look at the total centuries! The way Higgins and Selby are playing I'd fancy the record to go in the final.

Hope the final matches the semis, the last couple of finals have been shite due to dott et al, some of the players coming through had put me off snooker completely, dull as fuck.

Oh, does this mean that Higgins is world no 1 after Murphy went out? Or does he need to win the final?

I think Higgins only had to get to the final as long as Murphy didn't beat him in the final. Actually, I'm sure I saw a 'as it stands' ranking table before the semis and Higgins was No. 1 in that so he must be guaranteed No. 1. Not sure how high Selby goes if he wins, but he's already well guaranteed his top 16 spot.

I'd quite like Selby to win as apparently hes a Leicester lad. Not too bothered though, great semi finals though, I was swapping back on forth between match of the day and the last frame last night, too tense to watch other wise :D

Not a bad final so far. Thought Higgins would run away with it after last night, but Selby played brilliantly in the last session to pull it back to 10-12. Bet Higgins will come back in form for the last session though.

I sorta hope he doesn't, I'd like to see a thrilling final decided on the last frame or something.

    +1

I'm rooting for Selby as well. Higgins is a nice guy but Selby is a real character.

In that last session Higgins really looked beaten, lucky it was session over I feel.

They've got to change the session times for next year - this is a fucking joke. The final could end at 3am at this rate and most people will miss it.

    GRRRRR.

I love a bit of safety, but get a shift on.

Ooooooooh Selby's just let Higgins have the yellow (missus) - only took 21 minutes for that ball.

    MUH!

Looks like its gonna be 1.00 in the morning before this is over. Maybe even later.

    Enjoyable though.

Ooh, so all of a sudden you're all fucking watching it! ;)

What a great final, crushing disappointment that Selby didn't win - what a character, great charisma and some wonderful, inventive shot making. At 14-13 I thought he had a massive chance, at 15-13 I still thought he'd do it, but Higgins was immense once he got in in frame 29. Those last three frames were snooker perfection from him, the shot he played to start his break in the final frame (or was it the penultimate one?) to land on the black was out of this world at coming up to 1am. Like he said, Selby was almost unlucky that Higgins somehow found that form right at the end.

Overall, I don't think Selby got the run of the balls in the final, but noone could argue with Higgins winning, he was certainly the most consistent in all aspects of the game over the whole tournament.

Not much watched the snooker. But from what I did (Some of the semi's and some of the final) I would nominate Selby as the unluckiest player in there.

Well, Ding was pretty unlucky in that he played Ronnie in the only match where Ronnie was properly on form. :p

    Awesome.

I fell asleep during it and woke up at the end. Nice guy John and a gracious winner.

Selby looks like he could become a top top player if he can keep this up.

Did Steve Davis make it into the top 16 in the end?

Yes, couldn't emphasize this enough. As much as I was pulling for Selby, it was impossible to begrudge Higgins the win because he does come across as such a pleasant chap.

I've met him a couple of times and he used to be a proper lad. He's cut the drink out and seems to be feeling the benefit.

I had a nightmare about that yellow ball last night too. GO IN A POCKET!

It is difficult of their personalities. I've always had no time for Alan McManus. He's got that air of westlife about him.

But not a patch of Peter Ebdon. No forgiveness for the slow play he used against o'sullivan last year.

Yeah, I noticed that the drink has been mentioned a couple of times, but if you're back in world championship winning shape would you go back? Fair play to him.

The only thing that saved that one frame from utter despair was the fact that it actually was good safety play for 95% of the time (plus the horrible position of the green) rather than missed pots. But yeah, I was wondering if it was ever going to finish! Imagine if Selby had won another couple of frames!

Incidentally, has anyone ever seen a player who touches the cloth as often as Mark Selby? It got to the point last night it was quite annoying. Maybe it's from his pool background?
