Ready-made Eggnog in the UK

    HELP!

    Desperately want to get hold of it. In the USA, you can buy it ready-made, just add booze variety. Looks like a Milk Carton (AKA Tetra Pack)

    In the UK however, I can't find it ANYWHERE.

    Any ideas?

    Make your own
    Eggnog

    * 6 eggs
    * 1 cup + 1 tablespoon sugar
    * 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
    * 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
    * 3/4 cup brandy
    * 1/3 cup dark rum (Captain Morgan for best flavor, but Myers is OK)
    * 2 cups whipping cream
    * 2 cups milk

    All liquids should be very cold. Refrigerate in advance.

    Beat the eggs for 2 or 3 minutes with an electric mixer at medium speed until very frothy. Gradually beat in the sugar, vanilla and nutmeg. Turn the mixer off and stir in the cold brandy, rum, whipping cream and milk Chill before serving. Sprinkle individual servings with more nutmeg.

    Makes about 2-1/2 quarts.



    You can't actually buy it ready made in the UK that I am aware of but my friend did turn up to a boxing day party 2 years ago with a carton which he said he bought in Harrods food hall.

    Maybe this would do the job?

    Surely tesco or asda must sell somehing like that.

    Although neither sells Michelob the bastards.

    My local Tesco sells Michelob, although why anyone would want to drink that rats piss is anyones guess ;)

    Make it yourself indeed! The ready made stuff is fucking gash.

    I'll post my dad's recipe when I get over to Switzerland. He made fantastic eggnog. Mixing it all in a giant stirling silver bowl just added to the flavour.

    Egg-nog is a wonderful Xmas drink.

    Warninks Advocaat is what you want. Look in most off licences behind the creme de menthe.

    I know advocaat and eggnog are not the same thing, but after a bit of internet searching, I realised that advocaat is eggnog without milk. So I thought... What if I add the milk?
    Three glasses of advocaat and milk later (a bit more milk than advocaat, but almost half and half, with a bit of nutmeg on top for good measure), I'm very happy and slightly drunk (yeah, I'm a cheap date). Maybe you should give it a try.

    On my German exchange (at a young age) I had some lovely Advocaat stuff, that was absolutely gorgeous. I loved it so much I actually decided to pick some up at the airport on the cheap to take back with me. Turned out to be feckin' awful.

    I'm not really sure what the point or relevance of this post is. Possibly its 'Don't buy cheap stuff' when going for Advocaat/Eggnog.

    Hi, I too was despeartely seeking egg nog last year and found this supplier - the quality of the goods was excellent, thought quite expensive.

    Saw it in my local Tesco last week. It was in the 'World Foods' (or some such) section.

    I drive an automatic 'cause I'm too cool to change gears.
