    No idea why I googled this, but the oldest company in the world is a Japanese construction company that has been going for over 1400 years!

    So does it still exist or not?. The company that bought it out could at least have kept the name going, just for the sake of national pride.

    That's really interesting! A bit arbitrary, because how do you define a company? But I suppose family ownership of a business is a good way of doing it. Amazing.

    But in terms of going concerns, organisations that have functioned without interruption, I reckon you could find even older ones than that - the Catholic Church for starters, the Coptic Church would be even older, and there must be temples in India and China that have been permanently in 'business' for three thousand years or more.
