I have a copy of every single episode of NIGNFY. It started 28/09/90. Guests were Sandi Tostvig and Kate Saunders. Watching em is almost educational, a journey through modern UK history. :)

And yes, the News Quiz is still going, and is often funnier these days. Though slightly more 'twee'..

This weeks had William Shatner on it as the host and it wasn't too bad :)
Yeah it wasn't bad at all, it looked like he was having fun too. Lots more laughs than usual (although mostly at Shatner's lame grasp of English town names).

Just watched it on iplayer. I thought it was great, Shatner played it so well (though I have a lot of man love for him anyway), another 15 mins would have been good as both Andy Hamilton and Brooker are quick and great guests, so could have had more from them.

Is there absolutely anyway I can watch certain old episodes? From what I've tried, both legitimate methods, and piracy have failed me. I really want to see the episode 9 from series 32 in which Boris was the host but for the life of me I can't seem to get it anywhere.

Well no basically. Those are probably the only two avenues open, unless maybe they are on you tube?

Hung out to dry, cos of course all BBC employees are flawless.

Without naming names, many have done worse. I wish they could "fix it" for Angus Deayton to comeback.
    No it doesn't.

I think it was because it became impossible for Angus to be "neutral" in the middle. That was his job so to speak, to mock those appearing on the show - like, for example, the Hamiltons. Christine Hamilton used to be on the show a fair bit, and Angus always delighted in introducing her as "the wife of disgraced Tory politician, Neil Hamilton". Thing is, if Christine could fire back and say, "But you're no better!", the dynamic of it changes. I think this was what Paul Merton said a while back - it wasn't solely because they hated him (although it was made clear he wasn't well liked), but because the show couldn't survive with him in the middle. He was a comedic liability.

I'd like to see him do a guest spot again, just for shits and giggles. But not a permanent role again - it's too far gone for that. And he's still doing plenty of sitcoms and a fair few movie roles too, so his career hasn't totally died. Just shifted focus a little.
